Corbyn and IRA

AIBU to ask that someone please explain how he is allowed to lead a party after this?

"It can be disclosed that for seven years running, while the IRA “armed struggle” was at its height, Mr Corbyn attended and spoke at official republican commemorations to honour dead IRA terrorists, IRA “prisoners of war” and the active “soldiers of the IRA.”

The official programme for the 1988 event, held one week after the IRA murdered three British servicemen in the Netherlands, states that “force of arms is the only method capable of bringing about a free and united Socialist Ireland.” Mr Corbyn used the event to attack the Anglo-Irish Agreement, the precursor of the peace process."

Taken from a Telegraph article. I was unaware his support of the IRA was this involved until this morning.

Why didn't this amazing support generating machine get the vote out for Remain? Maybe because the leader went on fecking holiday.
Momentum/Labour should read the signs from the referendum. No one cares what you think.
If he actually did vote Remain it was that rare occasion when JC and I agree about something.

OlennasWimple · 14/05/2017 17:40

I want to be able to vote Labour, but I never will whilst they have a terrorist sympathiser and apologist as a leader.

OP - the answer to your question is that the British electorate (as a whole) doesn't care about NI enough for it to make a difference to how they vote, sadly

Jupitar · 14/05/2017 18:12

I want Cooper to be the leader

Tough cos Corbyn got voted as leader, by the majority of the largest labour membership ever, so he's obviously a lot more popular than she is

Jupitar · 14/05/2017 18:16

Well the majority of the country seem to think she is better at it than Corbyn.

Do they? Shame none of them turn up to hear her speak then and she has to take a bus of supporters around with her 😂

PigletWasPoohsFriend · 14/05/2017 18:29

Do they?

Well considering Tories are about to gain many MPs and Labour lose many I would have thought that was obvious Wink

Radishal · 14/05/2017 19:51

He's a lot more popular in the echo chamber that is Momentum/Labour. Cooper would have given May a run for her money with the electorate that count in a general election.

EnthusiasmIsDisturbed · 14/05/2017 20:29

Yes Corbyn often has big crowds flocking to hear him speak and Labour do have a large party membership

But it means fuck all as we have seen in every local and by elections labour vote is down considerably since he has been leader

Maybe so many are following him around they forgot to cast their vote that has to be the reason for voter turnout

Puzzledandpissedoff · 14/05/2017 20:34

Usually the leader of the party takes responsibility for their election results rather than blame it on the thicko electorate

On the whole, yes, but with Corbyn we really do seem to be in uncharted territory

It's nothing new to see a poor party leader - as an old gimmer I can remember all too many - but I've honestly never seen anything like this Hmm
