Am I being tight/ greedy?

I ordered sourdough toast with avocado, tofu and plantain at my local cafe for lunch today. I was hungry. The dish was 2 slices of sourdough toast; 1 slice with avocado, 1 slice naked no butter, 2 small strips of tofu and 2 small slices of plantain with about 5 spinach leaves. I questioned the portion size as it seemed a bit, well, mean. My friend said it was about right but I was expecting avo on both slices and more than 2 slices of plantain for £4.95.

AIBU or AIB greedy?

I don't think you can expect much more for under a fiver to be honest.

PenelopeFlintstone · 12/05/2017 14:55

YANBU. What are you supposed to do with a dry slice of bread?!

19lottie82 · 12/05/2017 14:55

For £4.95 in a cafe I wouldn't expect more than that.

InDubiousBattle · 12/05/2017 14:57

I don't think that's a bad amount for £4.95.

Nabootique · 12/05/2017 14:57

I think the price depends on what sort of cafe/where it was, but it terms of finding it an insufficient amount of food, YANBU.

2014newme · 12/05/2017 14:57

I think the second slice you put on top of the avocado so it makes a sandwich.
It looks fine to me, lots of more expensive ingredients. I'm not a fan of plaintan or tofu would prefer a salad but this just me, it all looks very carby

shockthemonkey · 12/05/2017 14:58

That kind of price, you can expect a snack, not a meal.

blackteasplease · 12/05/2017 15:00

For £4.95 it seems fine.

I agree there's little point in the naked slice of bread though

Squishedstrawberry4 · 12/05/2017 15:04

Where are you OP? That makes a difference. London or Wakefield?

I think there should have been avocardo on both slices

Kokusai · 12/05/2017 15:07

YABU for ordering plantain :-)

PovertyJetset · 12/05/2017 15:08

I think it's the right amount of food for the cost- under a fiver is cheap cheap!

fiorentina · 12/05/2017 15:08

That seems fine for a snack to me. I have one piece of sourdough with avo for lunch.

BarbaraofSeville · 12/05/2017 15:09

That looks good, and filling for a fiver. Avocado and sourdough are expensive ingredients. I'd probably put the spinach on the avocado and use the second slice to make a sandwich or just eat the bread plain if it's really nice bread.

arethereanyleftatall · 12/05/2017 15:11

There's no way you'd get anything in a cafe for under a fiver where I live.

ShowMePotatoSalad · 12/05/2017 15:11

£4.95 is reasonable for that amount of food. More than reasonable in fact as it's bigger than a starter. That looks like half an avocado to me.

DerelictWreck · 12/05/2017 15:12

I think that's loads for less than a fiver!

KoalaDownUnder · 12/05/2017 15:13

I'd rather they charged me more and gave me something nicer, because that looks a bit shit.

user1491572121 · 12/05/2017 15:18

I think it's fine for a fiver!

Chewbecca · 12/05/2017 15:20

YABU - there's plenty of food for a fiver
Cafe IBU - they've presented it weirdly by putting all the avo on one slice

Chewbecca · 12/05/2017 15:21

& can I spy butter in a pot on the side so you have the option to butter if you want?

tickwhitetick · 12/05/2017 15:21

that's CHEAP for what you got!

Towelallinone · 12/05/2017 15:22

not sure what else you wanted for under a fiver which included a service too Confused

2015newstart · 12/05/2017 15:23

That looks like plenty of food, especially for a fiver (!) but the combination of ingredients looks dry.

Hoppinggreen · 12/05/2017 15:25

It wouid be a fair price round here but I very much doubt it would be on any menu round here anyway!!!

ShatnersBassoon · 12/05/2017 15:25

You're meant to make a sandwich with it I suppose, or what's in that metal pot thing there? Butter or something?
