Left my toddler in the car to pay for petrol - I could see him while paying - and a stupid woman called security cause my 3yo was crying and shouldn't be left in car...... Eh??
WTAF? She's never seen parents leave kids in the car to pay for petrol? WTF is that about?

Omg Grin poor you op!

Justmadeperfectflapjacks · 11/05/2017 16:11

Betting she isn't a dm. .

TheWeeWitch · 11/05/2017 16:12

That's terrible! Its much safer for kids to remain safely in the car at petrol stations than be hauled about amongst the cars.

Floggingmolly · 11/05/2017 16:13

Why was the 3 year old crying? Maybe she assumed he was distressed because he couldn't see you?

Dianneabbottsmathsteacher · 11/05/2017 16:14

Hopefully security told the silly cow off

LovingLola · 11/05/2017 16:17

Did you see him crying? And her noticing it?

hibbledobble · 11/05/2017 16:18

If the child is distressed and parent not obviously around I can understand why Tbh.

I have 3 children and have never left them alone in the car in a petrol station.

Dianneabbottsmathsteacher · 11/05/2017 16:19

So what if he was crying? Kids cry and she wouldn't be longer than a few minutes paying for petrol. Hmm

Dianneabbottsmathsteacher · 11/05/2017 16:20

hibble why?

LovingLola · 11/05/2017 16:21

And did security arrive?

Floggingmolly · 11/05/2017 16:22

You sound delightful, Dianne. I take it you'd have no problem leaving your three year old screaming in the car while you tootled off to the other side of the forecourt because kids cry? Do you think crying is character forming?

strugglinghuman · 11/05/2017 16:23

Always leave the window open a crack if you're going to be more than a few hours, or dogooders will whinge about it.

AnnetteCurtains · 11/05/2017 16:23

Is there really any harm done ?

RicottaPancakes · 11/05/2017 16:24

Surely it's good that she didn't ignore a crying child? Children don't normally cry without reason. If you only nipped innto pay for petrol how did she have time to call security? And how do you avtually do that? I wouldn't knwo the number... Did they turn up?

AppleOfMyEye10 · 11/05/2017 16:25

Well she was right to do so. Your child was crying and how was she to know you were going to be back soon?

Splinters6 · 11/05/2017 16:26

But if I saw a child crying on a oetrol forecourt I'd assume the parent was inside paying for petrol and would therefore be returning to the car within a couple of mins max. It's not as though the child was left in a car park or somewhere random. I always left mine in the car when I went inside to pay. To me it was the safer option.

Splinters6 · 11/05/2017 16:27

Apple, the overwhelming likelihood is that the parent is 30ft away paying for petrol.

SquatBetty · 11/05/2017 16:29

Exactly what Splinters6 said! I always leave my DS in the car when paying for petrol.

Redpony1 · 11/05/2017 16:29

it's a petrol forecourt, with a car parked at the pumps, of course the parent is going to be back in a few mins!!

MoreThanUs · 11/05/2017 16:29

Totally agree with Dianne. Crazy.

QuiteLikely5 · 11/05/2017 16:30

Struggling to picture how she had the time to find security and he had the time to walk to your car all whilst you were in a queue

Which store

Floggingmolly · 11/05/2017 16:30

Where did Security arrive from, then?

NotYoda · 11/05/2017 16:30

I think this will be on the DM later

Boooooring

BaggyCheeks · 11/05/2017 16:31

I've never met anyone, or seen anyone, IRL who take their kids into the petrol station with them. Sitting in the car is safer than traipsing them across a forecourt for the two minutes paying for fuel takes.

Bettyspants · 11/05/2017 16:31

I'm pretty sure it's illegal in some parts of America? So maybe there's a link with the reporter?!
