Left my toddler in the car to pay for petrol - I could see him while paying - and a stupid woman called security cause my 3yo was crying and shouldn't be left in car...... Eh??

That's terrible! Its much safer for kids to remain safely in the car at petrol stations than be hauled about amongst the cars.

Why was the 3 year old crying? Maybe she assumed he was distressed because he couldn't see you?

If the child is distressed and parent not obviously around I can understand why Tbh.

I have 3 children and have never left them alone in the car in a petrol station.

You sound delightful, Dianne. I take it you'd have no problem leaving your three year old screaming in the car while you tootled off to the other side of the forecourt because kids cry? Do you think crying is character forming?

Always leave the window open a crack if you're going to be more than a few hours, or dogooders will whinge about it.

Surely it's good that she didn't ignore a crying child? Children don't normally cry without reason. If you only nipped innto pay for petrol how did she have time to call security? And how do you avtually do that? I wouldn't knwo the number... Did they turn up?

Well she was right to do so. Your child was crying and how was she to know you were going to be back soon?

But if I saw a child crying on a oetrol forecourt I'd assume the parent was inside paying for petrol and would therefore be returning to the car within a couple of mins max. It's not as though the child was left in a car park or somewhere random. I always left mine in the car when I went inside to pay. To me it was the safer option.

Apple, the overwhelming likelihood is that the parent is 30ft away paying for petrol.

it's a petrol forecourt, with a car parked at the pumps, of course the parent is going to be back in a few mins!!

I've never met anyone, or seen anyone, IRL who take their kids into the petrol station with them. Sitting in the car is safer than traipsing them across a forecourt for the two minutes paying for fuel takes.

I'm pretty sure it's illegal in some parts of America? So maybe there's a link with the reporter?!
