Renationalise the railways and energy companies.

Stoping any rises in pension age.

Taxing the top 5% to pay for oap social care.

No tax rises to people warning under 80k.

No to nuclear weapons.

Giving workers the right to strike.

Reverse legal aid cuts, giving the poorest people access to the legal system.

No target on immigration.

Banning driver only trains to keep the underground in safe hands.

Increased rights for the Roma.

Review of disability benefits changes.

Scraping tuition fees.

Honestly all such good ideas, we can get him ellected!

Having lived for much of my life in a non-nuclear country I really see Trident discussions as a way of concealing other political manoeuvrings since they always get heated.

As PPs have said, why are we talking about Trident and nationalising the railways when the conversation should be about the benefits system, the NHS and the education system?

Chaotica · 11/05/2017 14:23

Indeed Intransige.

Although renationalising the railways would stop people other than ourselves making a huge profit by providing poor service to those who have no alternative.

Chaotica · 11/05/2017 14:25

OP -- Yes! BTW

That leaked Labour manifesto - a handy visual guide! Grin

Bartholins Our boats don't 'lurk', they patrol!! You are right....given the expanse of the Pacific and the range of a Trident missile, it's eminently do-able by us or the U.S.

Intransige For some of us, defence is the driver of who gets our vote. I see Trident discussions as essential, as it shows active engagement in defending the nation. Depending which non nuclear country you lived in, you may have benefited from the nuclear umbrella provided by the UK, US and France.

Allergychange · 11/05/2017 14:36

I love the threats to "get up and leave"

My neighbour says it all the time. Er, you make your money from people in this country using your services and you all going to decamp and just sell your shit to each other on a little island?

Calamity Cornyn Grin

Intransige · 11/05/2017 14:39

scary, yes I understand that for some people it's very important. But it seems to come up when politicians want to hide things.

I doubt we were under the UK nuclear umbrella. Too far away.

scaryteacher · 11/05/2017 14:40

Why does it worry you Mother? It is the PMs call if it used or not. The U.S. have no control over us launching it; it is an independent nuclear deterrent.

I don't think anyone was suggesting using Trident on the health service, but it is part of our NATO commitment, and keeps places like Russia, N Korea etc in check with MAD. We can't just concentrate on fighting jihadists and Daesh; it's a case of being prepared for the conflicts not yet on the horizon, and that may be state, or non state actors.

MrsSummerisle · 11/05/2017 14:42

FanjoForTheMammaries

Sorry..am joking of course

Well, the only good use for Labour's manifesto would be as a suppository...

... and no, I'm not joking! Wink

scaryteacher · 11/05/2017 14:43

Intransige I did say US as well! Depends where the submarines are lurking, and they can do that anywhere in the oceans til the food runs out.

Grin
MrsSummerisle · 11/05/2017 14:50

Actually, I take that back - using Labour's manifesto as a suppository would just be plain wrong.

After all, it's already full of shite on the inside - it doesn't need it on the outside too! Grin

nannybeach · 11/05/2017 14:52

No nuc weapons, funny Jeremy Corbin said he was going to re-instate trident. Definetely lala land, where is all this money meant to come from to pay for all of this.

There's no room anyway..all Tories have their heads up their arses

Hey, tell you what, let's settle the question this way - let's agree that whichever side loses on June 8 is the side whose supporters have their heads up their arse.

Deal? Are you feeling lucky? Wink
