All those talking of borrowing to fund these ridiculous plans- I wonder who will want to lend vast sums of money and at what punitive rates, to a Marxist Labour Govt, as the markets plummet after a Lab win?

LadyPW · 11/05/2017 12:57

Whacking corporation tax up = big companies leave UK = lots of unemployed
Plus putting the CT rate up for small businesses is EXACTLY the same as increasing personal tax for those earning less than £80k - those small businesses, many of them one-person companies or small family-owned businesses, will have lower profits because of the tax increases. Lower profits = less money to take home. It IS a tax increase on the lower classes by the back door, just as if they put up VAT. But because it's taken by corporation tax and not personal tax Labour manages to fool people.
The Conservatives meanwhile have lowered the CT rate for both large and small companies, AND raised the personal allowances for individuals. More money in normal peoples' pockets - people earning lower wages, people who've taken the risk and started their own business. People like the ones who post here.

And how many times so far have we used any form of nuclear weaponry? That will be a grand total of none, tbh. Are we complaining that May is weak because she hasn't used it ? Of course not. If we must have it, I hope to God we never use it.

Have you heard of MAD Mother? What deterrent would there be if despots running some countries knew that the pathetically weak Corbyn would "never" use the our nukes?

Everyone knows that once nukes are used it's game over and its MAD that keeps us safe. For Corbyn to say that he would never use them is irresponsible and damn right dangerous. You can't compare the fact that no other leader has used them because it's all about the threat that they could and they would. Corbyn takes that threat away.

Sorry no, I haven't read it through and admit I haven't read much about each party yet so definitely not decided, just so sick of people trying to bully others into voting one way

Faithless- yes I do believe that. Not everyone but a lot have worked harder. I started at my job the same time as another lady and she had risen up the ranks through bloody hard work, long unpaid hours and sacrifices. I had the opportunity to do the same but have chosen not to. Should she pay more than me? I have a family and lots of family time together, she doesn't. There are a lot of examples of similar. My parents and PIL were a lot better off than us, (not enough to be affected by this) but they didn't get to spend as much time at home with the family. Also, earnings doesn't mean disposable income, some areas cost a fortune to buy in and some have a large family etc

Nanny0gg · 11/05/2017 13:08

I lived and worked through the 1970s.

The time when everything was still nationalised. Everyone could strike (including wildcat strikes), when we were on a three day week because of said strikes. When there were power cuts at the most inconvenient times for the public at the drop of a hat. When the struggle to get into work for your three days was beyond ridiculous. Petrol was rationed.

Life was beyond difficult.

And whilst North Korea is weaponised we can keep our nuclear deterrent, thanks very much.

North Korea's having trouble reaching South Korea...
Actually the range of ICBMs means even fully functioning weapons fired from North Korea couldnt reach the UK.

So, there's a fancy plan to re-nationalise stuff that works largely on a business and profit making model and no plans to undo the decimation of our education system that's taken place over the past decade or so.

Something a bit askew, there, where priorities are concerned Hmm

Oh well that's turned everyone around almost as much as the 'reasons not to vote Tory' thread.

LiviaDrusillaAugusta · 11/05/2017 14:03

And I believe Corbyn has indicated in the past that he's pro-Brexit so that's kind of ironic

And so as not to be accused of falling for propaganda, here is a link from that well known bastion if right wing press, the Guardian Grin

BartholinsSister · 11/05/2017 14:06

Trident is very unlikely to reach N Korea.

Not even from one of our subs that might be lurking just off their coast?

TessTube · 11/05/2017 14:14

From what I understand, have seen and read , the Trident issue was a "red line" and it was insisted it was there (which explains the daft caveat because no one is ever going to push the bloody button)

Giving him control on the rest (presumably to stand or fall by his own policies)
