I love hearing where people are going on their holidays...
So tell me where you're going and what you're looking forward to the most... Grin Wine

We are doing a weeks camping in Northamptonshire in june and then a week in a log cabin overlooking Loch Ness in August.
The Loch Ness trip has become an annual thing and we have been 4 years so far. Nothing but peace, relaxation, hot tubbing and playing board games. The place has no internet connection either so we are perfectly cut off from everything.
There really is nothing like sitting in a hot tub watching the sunset over the mountains around Loch Ness while sipping some champagne. Plus scotland is about the only place we can get far away enough from people to take our drone up so the men (my other half and two teen sons)can have some fun too.

Zoflorabore · 10/05/2017 17:00

Mulberry me too!

Makes me sad when people ask if we're scared of terrorism etc, jeez we're 14-15 hours away from Syria, Turkey is a massive country.

Glad that there are others who aren't put off going, you would never go anywhere if you worried about terrorism, can happen anywhere.

What is Olu Deniz like? I would love to see more of the country.

We're off today to go to the Moab desert in Utah. (Where they filmed Thelma and Louise). Glamping. Our first holiday as a family. Soooooooo excited! GrinWineGinStar

where in switzerland if you dont mind me asking, always fancies that sort of holiday but never know where to go .

Noofly Solller or POrto soller?

Both are lovely and don't have that typical resort feel if you know what I mean. Both are proper places, ( soller village) and are lovely.

SantasLittleMonkeyButler · 10/05/2017 17:00

Oh, that sounds lovely Zoflora. Grin

Blowingthroughthejasmineinmymi · 10/05/2017 17:02

There was a long running thread on Mallorca where everyone seemed to love Soller, even those who didn't like Cala D'or, so I'm hoping I'll join that group

I suggested Soller to somoene ( probably on that thread) and they actually PM'd me after to thank me as they loved it soo much Grin

UnicornMadeOfPinkGlitter · 10/05/2017 17:02

Yorkshire at the beginning of the school summer holidays, Florida (not the parks) at the end of the summer holidays and Ibiza in October.

Zoflorabore · 10/05/2017 17:09

It's ideal for us as so much to do for the dc, ds 14 and dd 6, very hard trying to find somewhere to suit both age ranges and this fits the bill perfectly.

The spa was a lovely treat for me, hotel has a hair and nail salon and it's own shopping centre too so I was in my elementGrin

It's classed as a 4/5 star and the family suites are gorgeous, we only ventured out of the complex once as there was so much going on. It's a first choice one if u want to have a look.

Muddlewitch · 10/05/2017 17:12

We are off to Weymouth in the summer holidays, and Cornwall to visit a friend.
In fact, can I ask for some ideas from you all, as you seem have lots of holiday knowledge?

I've never been abroad before, neither have my dc. I've never been able to afford it but recently had a promotion and would like to take them away next year. Where would people recommend that would be a good 'starter' holiday abroad? None of us have ever been on a plane so preferably not too long a distance, although they have travelled by train a lot. It would be me and 4 DC aged 8-18. Also, do people book with a deposit and pay in instalments, or save up then book and pay all at once? I don't know where to start!

MermaidsTears · 10/05/2017 17:18

Nowhere this year due to new baby coming this summer but will have two weeks in Cyprus next August and I cannot wait already.

Haudyerwheesht · 10/05/2017 17:18

Blackpool and Brighton. Had a week in highlands already and will probably have a night or two away in October maybe in Newcastle or Manchester.

Marmitelover55 · 10/05/2017 17:19

We are going on our first cruise round the med in July. Looking forward to waking up in a new place every day but a bit worried about being "stuck" on the ship for sleeping, eating and entertainment.

dollydaydream114 · 10/05/2017 17:22

France (the Alpine bit). Can't wait!

wifeyhun · 10/05/2017 17:24

Brittany ferry to Spain, and then a whole week at Portaventura.

happilyeverafta · 10/05/2017 17:25

Mallorca in June. Poss a weekend in a cottage in north wales later in year.

Went to Mauritius & Dubai earlier in April which was our treat with our baby.

OhPuddleducks · 10/05/2017 17:26

We're driving to Nice in August - proper road trip style. I can't wait. And we'll go up to Edinburgh for the last week of the festival too. Come on summer!!!!

StoatofDisarray · 10/05/2017 17:28

Hiking in Snowdonia for a week, the Carillon in Miami for 2 weeks, Eden Project in September.

RaskolnikovsGarret · 10/05/2017 17:28

Singapore, Brunei and Borneo for two weeks. Possibly France over the bank holiday, but tba. The DCs are lucky enough to be going to Eastern Europe with school too.

Noofly · 10/05/2017 17:32

Blowing Soller (town) not the port. We're renting a villa about a 10 minute walk from the centre. It looks nice. I'm making everyone do the Torrent de Pareis with me- 6:00 AM start! DH and DD might wimp out the day before. Grin

JustBeingJobless · 10/05/2017 17:34

Duinrell in the Netherlands for the third year running. Love that place and ds (11) is in his element. Went to France at Easter.

Mulledwine1 · 10/05/2017 17:35

Muddlewitch

Ireland? English-speaking, easy journey. If that doesn't feel abroad enough then Malta and Cyprus are easy to visit and also English-speaking. If you book via a travel agent you usually pay a deposit and then the rest 10 weeks or so before you travel. If you book yourself you may end up paying for the plane right away and the hotel when you check out at the end of the holiday. It depends really.

We are going to the Channel Islands in May half term and Lake Constance (German/Swiss/Austrian border) in the summer.

Frazzled2207 · 10/05/2017 17:37

South west france next month

LBOCS2 · 10/05/2017 17:39

We've done our main holiday this year, which was Fuerteventura in April, which was lovely.

DH and I are going to Download Festival in 4 weeks which will be a holiday for us as the grandparents are taking the DC for the long weekend 😁

DSis and I are taking my DC to Wales for a long weekend in early July.

We'll go away with the ILs for a week somewhere in the U.K. at the beginning of the summer. And I'm trying to ascertain if DH has enough leave left for a long weekend in a eurocamp either in Italy or France at the end of August.

I just like being away. I'm a SAHM so I get a bit bored of the same 4 walls...

flibberdy · 10/05/2017 18:02

Barcelona, Lisbon and the Yorkshire dales. Lovely Smile
