To think that Holly and Phil look down on nearly all their guests?

Maternity Leave and cluster feeding baby has led me into the world of brain rot This Morning, Lorraine and Loose Women.
I have come to feel uncomfortable with the power imbalance of the guests and H&P.
They (H&P) are always slightly condescending towards/ amused by the people who appear on the show- usually vulnerable people (for whom if it wasn't for them the show wouldn't exist) they never share any if the imperfections about their own lives but love getting into the juicy details of the poor decisions of others which really annoys me.
They seem annoyingly squeaky clean and too good to be true.
I wish one day Phil would say, 'And coming up next after the break, I will be sharing about a harrowing round of genital warts I once had and Holly will be discussing her marriage niggles.
AIBU?

I Like Eammon and Ruth at least they seem to be genuine, I think with them what you see is pretty much what you get.
Phil is a condescending prick and Holly plays the part of the blonde bimbo far too well!

MadisonAvenue · 08/05/2017 21:07

Haven't watched it since the Richard and Judy days, can't stand Holly and Phil though.

stella23 · 08/05/2017 21:12

don't watch that dross but it absolutely rattles my cage that Holly Willoughby presents her harmless girl next door image on a popular mainstream show in the morning (and gets paid top dollar for it) whilst also appearing on Keith Lemon's seedy and misogynistic Celebrity Juice every week. Cos she's his mate.

^this, it seems to be all about the money and the screen time. Hw is ruthless when it comes to money.
Celebrity juice is an awful awful programme

Bostin · 08/05/2017 21:12

Give Wonens Hour a go.

Bostin · 08/05/2017 21:13

womens!

MusicToMyEars800 · 08/05/2017 21:14

I refuse to watch any of those programmes, they give me the rage.

ElizabethG81 · 08/05/2017 21:23

Yes, I much prefer Eamonn and Ruth. Sarah Greene was brilliant when she was on a few weeks ago.

Holly really struggles with anything more serious than TOWIE - she purses her lips and tilts her head but she just can't handle it. She'll either cry or be completely rude and unprofessional to the guests.

Mrsmadevans · 08/05/2017 21:24

YADNBU op I totally agree with you and would go so far as to say they are SMUG !

topcat2014 · 08/05/2017 21:26

I always think of Dawn French pretending to be Lorraine Kelly "Hello, and welcome, if you've just joined us, you've missed nothing"

kissmethere · 08/05/2017 21:28

Yeah their "friendship" has always made me cringe and the the way they fawn at each other.
You seriously need to get into box sets or have the radio on.

Shockedwife · 08/05/2017 21:29

topcat that's so funny!

Walk away OP - the Waltons are on True Entertainment - you know you want to!

bibbitybobbityyhat · 08/05/2017 21:32

Yes, Celebrity Juice is certainly niche piss poor entertainment for the hard of thinking so why are ITV happy for one of their most treasured girl next door highest paid stars to be so closely associated with it? Ditto the BBC and giving Fearne Cotton one of their prime time Radio 2 shows recently?

I assume Holly (at least) also has a book out on motherhood and maybe a perfume or children's clothing brand too. Why do people have to be so fecking greedy??

Rubies12345 · 08/05/2017 21:36

I like Alison Hammond - quite a warm, easy going person. Not aggressive and judgemental like Holly and Phil.

Mrspopper · 08/05/2017 21:36

Apparently her husband isn't exactly faithful. So not such a squeaky clean family life!

canteatcustard · 08/05/2017 21:50

I still miss Fern Britton.

topcat2014 · 08/05/2017 21:51

Decades ago, when Richard & Judy was filmed in Liverpool (where I was at uni) we used to walk outside the windows, and then try to see ourselves on screen.

I suppose we must have done some work too

user1493022461 · 08/05/2017 21:53

Stop watching such drivel then. Why is this shit even on the tv? Bring back the fucking test card, I say.

redshoeblueshoe · 08/05/2017 21:54

this thread will get zapped. I think someone at HQ loves them

KenDoddsDadsDog · 08/05/2017 21:57

topcat2014 we did the same !

bigmack · 08/05/2017 21:57

I loved Richard and Judy. Best part of my maternity leave!

cantbefaffedd · 08/05/2017 21:57

Yes to this. I cannot stand either of them. He's so far up his own arse and the squeaky clean image she tries to portray while also appearing on wanky CJ niggles the face off me. My DH watches CJ (isn't a misogynist but admits he fancies HW) in fact, he's currently sewing a new hem on DS's school trousers while I do sweet FA 😂

LucilleBluth · 08/05/2017 22:04

I'm a total comedy snob.....but I love Celebrity Juice, it makes me cry with laughter. Holly is the worst thing about it, she loves herself, totally loves herself.

NancyDonahue · 08/05/2017 22:42

Yeah Richard and Judy were great. Well, Richard could be a bit of a twat but Judy was lovely. It just had more integrity back then, or maybe I'm seeing it through rose coloured specs. It certainly got me through the tough days of having young children, they felt like friends. It seems more dumbed down now, too heavy on the z-list celebrity worship and gossip.

normastits5 · 08/05/2017 23:22

I can't stand the pair of them , refuse to watch this drivel and as others have said stick a boxed set on or listen to the radio. It's TV for the challenged ........
