To buy individual slices of Soreen?

Ocado do either two loaves (260g each) or two packs of five individual (150g packs) of Soreen for £2.

Ds2 has a slice in his lunchbox each day. A squished, sweaty slice in a sandwich bag. I said, ooh they do individual ones, and they're the same price. Awesome.

Dh is up in arms. He says my profligate and wasteful nature is indicative of everything that's wrong with the world today. I say woo hoo, one less thing to faff with in the morning. I use a whole loaf of soreen a week so it amounts to the same thing.

Who is being unreasonable? And WIBU to also buy spray on butter (if I can find it) just to hammer my point home?

A whole loaf lasts a week? Thats your aibu. It must be eaten in one whole day

GreenHairDontCare · 08/05/2017 18:06

True. With butter. Mmmmm.

Yessss a bit lump of butter. Sit on a sofa, loosen your trousers and enjoy

JamesDelaneysHat · 08/05/2017 18:08

I've eaten a whole one today. Just ripped it apart with my bare hands. It didn't even stand a chance. Poor Soreen.

GreenHairDontCare · 08/05/2017 18:09

Yet another reason to buy the individual ones, see. To save my poor waistline.

My guilty pleasure !!! But what about the BANANA one !!!! Oh my god do not even go there !!! Fabulous

Oldraver · 08/05/2017 18:13

The only thing with the individual wrapped ones is that you would have to take butter with you..they are not the same otherwise.

OH was dead chuffed when the loafs I was buying were pre cut

WonkoTheSane42 · 08/05/2017 18:13

They're not the same price though. The individually sliced ones are nearly twice as expensive by gram. Plus all the extra packaging you're killing the planet with. All to avoid slicing a piece of malt loaf each day.

ihearttc · 08/05/2017 18:14

You can get pre-buttered individual Soren's as well...

GreenHairDontCare · 08/05/2017 18:14

Ds doesn't have butter on his.

I'm just thinking, I make the sarnies the night before and then in the morning I grab a Barny Bear, two Frubes and a banana and a ready to go Soreen. Oh the decadence.

Yes Wonko, that's DH's point.

He's wrong

JamesDelaneysHat · 08/05/2017 18:15

Oh the banana ones are divine! I would just never attempt a home made Soreen. It would be disrespectful and wrong!

GreenHairDontCare · 08/05/2017 18:15

Pre buttered? OMG.

I think the individually wrapped ones are a bit dry compared to slices of the large one. Bloody love Soreen with butter though

wizzywig · 08/05/2017 18:16

Agree james. Itd be like trying to recreate the michaelangelo. Banana soreen is good, original is epic.

Passmethecrisps · 08/05/2017 18:16

Totally off topic but have you tried it toasted?

Amazing stuff

summerlovinggirl · 08/05/2017 18:17

I thought the big ones were individual ones till I saw the tiny ones!!!Wink
I buy the individual ones for DS packed lunch - so much easier. The big ones don't cut well and always squish up.
Have you had butter and cheese on it? Devine!!!

PippaFawcett · 08/05/2017 18:21

Summer Grin

PippaFawcett · 08/05/2017 18:23

Pass me, I will try that!

AwaywiththePixies27 · 08/05/2017 18:24

I don't like soreen. The kids will eat it by the loaf though so they're happy I cant scoff something they like.

Your DH is the one BU here. Wink

Farahilda · 08/05/2017 18:25

I get the individual ones.

Because I find it possible to eat Soreen only by the whole packetful. And scoffing a whole loaf is way more profligate than eating a pre-packaged slice.

wizzywig · 08/05/2017 18:27

I only hear people on mn using the word profligate

OuchBollocks · 08/05/2017 18:28

You're all weird. Soreen is not nice. DD likes the banana one though, I buy the individual ones for her and she thinks she's getting cake. In our case though, it's less wasteful to buy individual ones - we would never get through a whole loaf so most of it would go in the bin every time.

Acornantics · 08/05/2017 18:31

Malt loaf with butter and sliced banana atop. Heaven on a plate. Actually doesn't necessitate a plate, that's strictly optional.

WellWhoKnew · 08/05/2017 18:37

I find myself having to reslice to sliced one. Then end up with lots of bits. End up eating more than intended because you don't get that primeval tearing of Doreen.
