Come out, come out wherever you are!
I know it will mean you will be attacked and preached at, you will be told you are rich, uncaring and hate everyone except yourself, but will anyone stand with me and admit to planning on voting Conservative on June 8?
I can't be the only one surely? I didn't vote the Conservatives in by myself in 2015!

I am planning to vote conservative for the first time in my life. Was always a Labour voter but now in my humble opinion, they are a joke party. Don't even get me started on the Lib Dems!!

SquidgeyMidgey · 10/05/2017 20:30

I like the way you're all so free and easy with other people's tax increases as long as it gets you what you want. This is why rich people employ devious accountants and poor people work cash in hand.

election2017.ifs.org.uk/article/labour-s-reversal-of-corporate-tax-cuts-would-raise-substantial-sums-but-comes-with-important-trade-offs

£19 bn in the short term.

But see the trade offs.

I don't know what they said they are going to spend the 19bn on in total but yes it does say it's quite enough for the education spending.

LOL.
Well I did not like how "free and easy" labour were with spending all the public money on one catchy-named but unsustainable new scheme after another until everything was in chaos and billions had been wasted on nothing

TessTube · 10/05/2017 20:37

Who is saying they don't want better public services? I can't see anyone saying that.

the IFS has confirmed the proposed tax increases WILL fund labours policies.

yes they did....in the short term, but you need to read the whole document (link above from TessTube) which points out the detrimental affects in the medium and long term as companies are motivated to change their investment behaviour - that coupled with Brexit and Mr Macron reducing French CT to 25%......why stay put in the UK.....might aswell move abroad and be done with it. And for those that can't move, put up prices to compensate and/or sack people to reduce costs.

Everybody is going to have to pay more.

I prefer the Lib Dems idea here.

Fanjo, we both pay every penny we owe. We don't dispute that, never have and never will.

I'm a state school teacher so I see public services first hand everyday. I also saw it under the billions poured in by New Labour and the difference wasn't as grand as you'd think.

As for the NHS, after a couple of near misses we pay a small fortune in private medical insurance so hopefully that helps by way of tax and a few less users. I wouldn't have an issue in principle with paying a little bit more in tax for the good of the NHS but it's such a flaccid beast that the money wouldn't actually get to the front line.

I'm not in favour of scrapping overseas aid payments and I don't support taking payments from the genuinely disabled. I'm not a stick of rock Tory, I am actually open to being convinced, but Corbyn scares me.

A £19 billion tax hike? Wow, Labour's fucked.

From the IFS:

Increasing rates will raise less revenue in the medium to long run because firms would respond by investing less in the UK. This in turn would depress economic activity and lead to fewer jobs and lower wages. There is a very high degree of uncertainty about how large these effects are but estimates suggest that they may be substantial. The potential size of these effects is an indication of why the OECD and others judge corporation tax to have a particularly damaging effect on economic growth.

So Labour will tax the shit out of companies, leading to the loss of jobs and lower wages. What's not to like? Hmm

TessTube · 10/05/2017 20:44

People on more money would pay more.

JanetBrown2015 · 10/05/2017 20:46

And UK corporation tax was supposed to be coming down to 17% (and US coming down to 15%) and Ireland is pretty cheap too so why stay in the UK as a corporation when you could easily base yourself in Dublin say in the EU with lower company tax rates?

The suggested Labour corporate tax levels would still be very competitive worldwide.

TessTube · 10/05/2017 20:47

As least we don't have Donald Trump though right?

derxa · 10/05/2017 20:49

Oh so when giving an interview when discussing their proposals they don't need to know their figures

Are you talking about this? They really are incompetent.
