HATE advertising you can't close down or get away from easily and came online today to find this horrendous example.

Stopped using The Independent for the same reason. Annoying, repetitive, in your face advertising

It's very annoying.

wowfudge · 06/05/2017 07:50

I can't help thinking there is a certain irony in your objecting so vehemently to advertising by the Co-op given its principles and the content of that particular advert.

Crunchymum · 06/05/2017 07:50

How do you think this website is funded OP?

I have to say I manage to take zero notice of the adverts.

GlassSeahorse · 06/05/2017 07:51

That has driven me insane all week, that advert. I've since downloaded an additional blocker app and am mumsnetting via that.

That type of advertising infuriates me, the way it moves as you scroll down. It also annoys me to the extent that I begin to hate whoever the advertiser is Angry

FluffyBathTowel · 06/05/2017 07:51

Install an adblocker app?

JeNeSuisPasVotreMiel · 06/05/2017 07:52

Refresh the page. It goes away.

GlassSeahorse · 06/05/2017 07:52

Although mine wasn't for the Co-Op, it was for some bloody expensive electric toothbrush.

GoodEyebrowDay · 06/05/2017 07:53

Don't mind adverts, just this particular format is really annoying. Didn't realise I could get adblockers on phones too, will investigate.

There's a thread about this in site stuff.

MN have said these are a "permitted" ad type and will be staying, as you can still use the site when they come up.

GoodEyebrowDay · 06/05/2017 07:58

Thanks for link jaggy

Goodness, Mumsnet has adverts? I use an adblocker and am unaware of them.

SomewhatIdiosyncratic · 06/05/2017 08:00

I've had another type this week which has come down and covered half the screen and again required reloading of the page as it was unreadable.

I couldn't even tell you what it was for so a pointless exercise Grin

underneaththeash · 06/05/2017 08:06

I like mumsnet MUCH more without the annoying adverts - adblock is great. There seems to be a recurrent issue anyway with the site crashing on certain devices if you don't block the ads, so it makes sense to just block them.

Mummyoflittledragon · 06/05/2017 08:08

I use the desktop version of mn on my phone. Haven't bothered with ad blockers.

DameDeDoubtance · 06/05/2017 08:13

Use an ad blocker

blueskyinmarch · 06/05/2017 08:18

I use MN on my phone, iPad and laptop and have never seen adverts like that one. I have no idea i i have an ad blocker or not. Not helpful i am afraid. Sorry.

Squeegle · 06/05/2017 08:20

Which Is a good ad blocker to download please?

FluffyBathTowel · 06/05/2017 08:26

Squeegle I use Adblock Plus

alonsypot · 06/05/2017 08:36

Use the Mumsnet phone app, the adverts aren't that obtrusive there yet

Orlantina · 06/05/2017 08:39

There are adverts that seem to autoplay. That's annoying.
And adverts which follow you - if you scroll down, the advert bounces down. Hate those.

Still - other sites have annoying adverts as well.

stumblymonkeyreturns · 06/05/2017 08:45

I use the MN Talk app on my iPhone and don't see any ads at all....

TiggyMP · 06/05/2017 08:52

Mumsnet should install adblockers on the site for us. Save everybody doing it individually.

TheMonkeyandthePlywoodViolin · 06/05/2017 08:53

Yes the advertisers would be queuing up then.
