To think if May was a man they wouldn't be calling her delusional

I'm becoming increasingly uncomfortable with some of the adjectives being thrown at TM at present. Delusional, a fantasist ...etc etc. If she were a male PM would the likes of a Juncker (who I read is pretty much accepted to be mysoginist) be talking in this way? I know politics can involve name throwing but it's starting to smell a bit to me ....... she has a different viewpoint - Come on love, you're delusional ......

DT is delusional. It seems to be a necessary trait to be considered leadership material at the moment.

Fruitcorner123 · 03/05/2017 19:27

No they do it to all politicians and particularly party leaders in the lead up to an election. Look at what they are calling Corbyn. I don't think it's a gender thing. If they have called her 'love' though that is different but is that just you? Fwiw I believe she is delusional and I am female.

IfYouGoDownToTheWoodsToday · 03/05/2017 19:28

YABU

JUncker may well be a mysoginistic but I don't think he's the only one saying all these things AND they aren't directed just at TM, they are directed at the British govt.

Emphasise · 03/05/2017 19:29

I think they'd be throwing it all at whoever was in charge atm.

More worrying to me is the way May's own people (or her?) felt the need to base their entire campaign around the fact that she's a stronger leader than a man who's completely failed as a leader from day one. That was the one thing everyone knew. Would they have felt the need to labour it if she was male?

IfYouGoDownToTheWoodsToday · 03/05/2017 19:30

And I think TM and her Govt are delusional. They are going into these negotiations like a bull in a china shop.

pipsqueak25 · 03/05/2017 19:30

as a big tm fan i want to see her bring jucker bang to rights for being a complete prick !

DoctorDonnaNoble · 03/05/2017 19:31

Nope. She is delusional if she thinks she is in a position to dictate to anyone. Nothing to do with her sex. Everything to do with the 'hard brexit' posturing.

Piratesandpants · 03/05/2017 19:31

I felt more uncomfortable with the phrase 'difficult woman'....

TheOnlyLivingBoyInNewCross · 03/05/2017 19:35

I would (and do) call Donald Trump delusional and a fantasist. Because he is. And he's a man.

TBF, some of the things May seems to believe she can come away from this Brexit deal with sound pretty delusional.

How about OP not a everything said negative about a woman is said because she has a vagina.

corythatwas · 03/05/2017 19:37

So what would you call Donald Trump?

Pettywoman · 03/05/2017 19:40

They never say Corbyn is delusional... not!

NotYoda · 03/05/2017 19:40

I think May's a bit like Merkel, in that there's little in the way of sexist language directed at her

I do not see delusional as a gender-specific insult.

If they'd said hysterical I might be with you.

JamieXeed74 · 03/05/2017 19:40

Well done to her for standing up for the UK against those bullies in the EU.

NotYoda · 03/05/2017 19:41

cory

I am increasingly, quite seriously, wondering whether he has dementia

refusetobeasheep · 03/05/2017 19:41

I completely agree Trump is delusional. But May? She's taking a tough negotiating stance ... perfectly acceptable. When negotiating I don't tell those who are asking for way more than they expect to get at the start that they're delusional, I know it's a starting point.

You're not the only one NotYoda.

Emphasise · 03/05/2017 19:44

She not taking a tough negotiating stance, she's making unrealistic/unreasonable demands. To "negotiate" you have to offer something in return.

ssd · 03/05/2017 19:44

TM is doing more for Scottish independence then the whole of the SNP put together

alltouchedout · 03/05/2017 19:45

Her being a woman has nothing to do with my thinking her a delusional fantasist.

SaucyJack · 03/05/2017 19:47

All this self-proclaimed "strong and stable" bollocks makes her sound delusional.

Try walking the walk before you talk the talk dearie.

JamieXeed74 · 03/05/2017 19:48

she's making unrealistic/unreasonable demands
Its not unreasonable to say WTF we are not giving you £100,000,000,000

TheOnlyLivingBoyInNewCross · 03/05/2017 19:49

To "negotiate" you have to offer something in return.

Yes, this. As Sturgeon said, we have limited leverage. What do we have that the EU wants in these negotiations?

refusetobeasheep · 03/05/2017 19:51

Indeed you do need to offer something in return ... but we're not at that stage of the negotiation yet.
