To think if May was a man they wouldn't be calling her delusional

I'm becoming increasingly uncomfortable with some of the adjectives being thrown at TM at present. Delusional, a fantasist ...etc etc. If she were a male PM would the likes of a Juncker (who I read is pretty much accepted to be mysoginist) be talking in this way? I know politics can involve name throwing but it's starting to smell a bit to me ....... she has a different viewpoint - Come on love, you're delusional ......

A great negotiator makes both sides think that they have won - it's someone whom you want to do business with.

May has backed herself into a corner by insisting that Britain gets the 'cake and eat it Brexit' (i.e. cherry-pick all the bits of the EU she likes) and that anything else is 'punishment'. She is leaving no room for compromise.

She is delusional and frankly unstable.

JamieXeed74 · 03/05/2017 19:52

To "negotiate" you have to offer something in return
We are offering them free trade.

Emphasise · 03/05/2017 19:53

It is if at the same time as refusing to pay the exit fee you want retain all the benefits of being in the EU and none of the downsides Jamie. Come on, would you go for it in their position? Make no mistake, their position is far stronger than ours

Emphasise · 03/05/2017 19:54

Why would they want free trade with us?

lummox · 03/05/2017 19:55

I'm usually quite quick to see subtle sexism in use of language, but in my view the word delusional is kind in this instance and wholly unrelated to the fact that she is a woman. Her conduct and speeches on brexit wholly fail to take account of reality. That is delusional and damaging at best and dishonest and catastrophic at worst.

Politicians are basically people who tore out the bullying and harassment page from a company handbook and wrote 'job instructions" at the top.

They are always calling each other deluded and detached from reality.

scaryteacher · 03/05/2017 20:02

Thought this capx.co/the-pm-should-ignore-junckers-brexit-bluff/ was interesting and this www.politico.eu/article/jean-claude-juncker-versus-theresa-may-aint-seen-nothing-yet-brexit-dinner-leaks/

I think the PM was right to call Brussels on the briefing against her: opinion seems to be that it's Selmayr, Junkkers chief of staff, and a fanatic europhile whoo is behind it.

I expect they'll do the same in October with the Czech elections; another country that is becoming more anti EU.

refusetobeasheep · 03/05/2017 20:03

OK I hope the majority of you are right and she would get exactly the same as a man. Frankly it's too depressing in 2017 to think a woman can get the top job in the country and still be subjected to the same shit, so I'll stop worrying about it!

OP posts:
LittleBearPad · 03/05/2017 20:05

It has nothing to do with her sex and everything to do with her ridiculous approach. I think she's losing the plot.

GallicosCats · 03/05/2017 20:05

I'm not sure if May is delusional. But I suspect Juncker has all the charm and pliability of a Vogon chucking intruders off the ship.

Westwardleading · 03/05/2017 20:05

"I think May's a bit like Merkel, in that there's little in the way of sexist language directed at her"

May is so very much not like Merkel. They couldn't be more different if their tried. Merkel is a principled strong natural leader who does negotiates with the world's despots eye to eye without crawling up their arse.

She has made many mistakes but at least she is courageous and has empathy. She is not perfect but I respect her.

scaryteacher · 03/05/2017 20:06

That much charm Gallicos?

jojo2916 · 03/05/2017 20:07

Fgs the pm of the U.K. Is a woman surely this tells you we've come a long way as far as women's rights, making something out of nothing gives feminists a bad name and partly why they are often sneered at

Crumbs1 · 03/05/2017 20:08

They were right. She is living some sort of crusade from a weak position and having reversed her view completely. Let's remember she was a remainder.

MycatsaPirate · 03/05/2017 20:09

Why shouldn't she get the same shit as a man? She doesn't get the special snowflake treatment because she's got a fanjo!

It's irrelevant what gender someone is.

Act like a delusional fool and people will call you a delusional fool.

DT is a prime example of this.

And I notice TM is starting to limit media coverage (see the debacle in Cornwall the other day) and keeps repeating the same shit over and over. Switch Make America Great Again for Strong and Stable.

Basically TM is DT.

Imagine those two delusional twits in charge of the western world ... oh wait.

GallicosCats · 03/05/2017 20:09

Well, OK, maybe he doesn't have the Vogon talent for poetry...Wink

SaucyJack · 03/05/2017 20:10

It tells me she was simply the last rat standing after the post-Brexit Tory meltdown jojo.

No one voted for her to be PM- fanny or not.

greenlavender · 03/05/2017 20:11

She's completely delusional. Sure 27 other countries will just agree because she says so, such a great stance. And don't get me started on her election mantras, she sounds like her hard wiring is stuck. She's making mugs of us all.

Pansiesandredrosesandmarigolds · 03/05/2017 20:12

She's delusional.

GallicosCats · 03/05/2017 20:12

May, Trump and Le Pen. How's that for a dream team? Shock would put the wind right up Juncker though

pipsqueak25 · 03/05/2017 20:25

totally with you jojo, although i think we might be the lone voices calling in the wilderness Grin

RufusTheRenegadeReindeer · 03/05/2017 20:39

pip

Most people have disagreed with the OP

PavlovianLunge · 03/05/2017 20:39

I think TM is a delusional, untrustworthy, opportunistic arsehole. (As are most politicians, I suppose.) I suspect that if she gets a big majority at the election, she'll make Thatcher seems like Mother Theresa.

It's got nothing to do with her being a woman, and everything to do with her being a delusional, untrustworthy, opportunistic arsehole.

Capricorn76 · 03/05/2017 20:43

I had a nightmare last night that TM was a Neo-Nazi and was getting her soldiers to beat up Asians. I didn't eat cheese before bed but I'm suffering from PMS - don't know if that causes nightmares. It was quite scary. Britain looked post apocalyptic. I must stop reading Brexit stuff!
