Because of course being a woman is all about wearing pink and makeup

Ffs - it's like a bloody game of dress-up!

I thought the article was pretty harmelss really - nothing offensive. I've never really been into makeup and admit i can find folk a bit frustrating who are really into it and can never be seen without it so this set of articles wouldn't be my thing. I just hate when it's sern as what women should be about and it's expected - like in certain jobs.

LassWiTheDelicateAir · 06/05/2017 09:55

Sorry I missed dinosaurs use. Still doesn't alter the fact the interviewee didn't say it.

specialsubject · 06/05/2017 09:57

Scary photo - red and black circles and a sulk. She must have been very fed up that day.

blowawayblonde · 06/05/2017 10:01

I worry about the world my son and daughter has been born into, and how I can make my voice shouting "this is bullshit" loud enough for them to hear against this cacophony of gender stereotyping regressive and damaging wittering.

jellyfrizz · 06/05/2017 10:15

I'm a bit confused by this bit:

"Makeup being this proto-symbol of femininity and the attitude towards masculinity, if you were male, having any interest in makeup made you less male. It was something I eschewed because I was trying really hard to be a guy."

Masculinity is not the same as being male, just as femininity is not the same as being female.

I've met Jordan at a free bar event. She showed me her tits and then sleazed all over a very drunk woman and tried to persuade her to come back to the hotel.

"Jordan, you realise that most women aren't sexual predators and would look after this drunken shambles rather than try to fuck her?"

Tosser.

cis was first mentioned by another pp, not WellErr

LassWiTheDelicateAir · 06/05/2017 10:21

What is confusing about that post? It's perfectly clear what she is saying. Are you really querying the view point that society in general does think less of men who present in a feminine way?

LassWiTheDelicateAir · 06/05/2017 10:23

Yes I acknowledged that. Still wasn't mentioned by the interviewer or the interviewee.

WellErrr · 06/05/2017 10:25

Aye, rtft Lass. It was in response to a post a mere 2 posts above mine saying 'cis woman' instead of 'woman.'

I never said it had been used in the article.

DoorwayToNorway · 06/05/2017 10:25

If a woman talked about make-up in an article it would probably be because the article is about make-up, not about being a woman. That's the difference!

RachelRagged · 06/05/2017 10:28

Jealous ?

I can honestly say I have never mourned the lack of a penis !!!

CIS Women . How fucking degrading to , you know, ACTUAL WOMEN

All this trans crap lately , its like bandwagon jumping !!!

Hulder · 06/05/2017 10:30

The difference is Jordan implies All women have an adolescence that involves makeup.

They don't. Jordan is performing a fantasy version of pornified womanhood.

No, absolutely not, and I think that is what the actual problem is; people should be able to present how they want regardless of sex.

And Jordan seems to be recognising this but at the same time also says they are a woman which is biology and nothing to do with being masculine or feminine and so contradicts the statement.

LassWiTheDelicateAir · 06/05/2017 11:07

She is not implying that. You have chosen to put that interpretation on it. It is a phase many girls do go through- she obviously didn't.

Datun · 06/05/2017 11:16

Whether many girls go through a make up stage is irrelevant. Jordan is sexualising the accoutrements of womanhood because Jordan is a man with a fetish.

You cannot apply the test of 'is this what women do?' to Jordan.

AgathaMystery · 06/05/2017 11:51

YANBU.

I am so so sick of the trans movement encroachment into women's lives and spaces.

I was trying to have a sensible convo about this last week regarding trans women & sports etc. None of my friends are bothered. I've been accused of being a right wing transphobic Confused I'm neither.

BeyondStrongAndStable · 06/05/2017 19:18

I've also met Jordan, though while Jordan was Mr Jordan rather than Ms Jordan (handy to have a name that works both ways. That's probably some sort of privilege on tumblr).
I have a photo. Both of us were wearing jeans, black boots (Jordan's general army style, mine docs) and a black vest. We both had short hair. Jordan had a beard.
Shame Jordan couldn't adequately "feel" a woman in that outfit.
