As in like a nippy little metal two wheel stick thingy, rather that a moped.

Is it wankery? Will people point and laugh?

I have one and bloody love it! So much fun (with the dc or by myself), it's knocked a third off the school run and whilst I might look a bit daft, it's nowhere near as daft as I looked running down the road screeching 'STOP' like a fish wife trying to keep up with the dc on theirs. The look on other kids faces as I go tearing past is also priceless. And my Fitbit tells me it's awesome exercise Grin

I have namechanged as I have only ever seen a couple of other adult scooter riders in my city so I am worried this may be identifying!

I have a scooter which I sometimes use to commute to work and to travel shortish distances in my local area (up to a couple of miles).

I find it really useful - Public transport is a bit pants where I live, congestion on the roads is really bad and I'm too nervous to cycle on the roads as a friend was killed cycling near where I live.

I came to scootering as a last resort - It seemed like the perfect solution for me but I was worried about people's reactions. In the end, I decided to take the plunge and the reaction from colleagues and friends has been positive (they all want to have a go!) - and no one I scoot past seems to bat an eyelid. It's really easy to fold up and take anywhere (into the office, onto trains etc).

They look ridiculous but I am so, so envious Grin

General comment, not directed at scootergirl!

Imamouseduh · 01/05/2017 22:04

Depends. Do you ever want to find him sexually attractive again? If so, then don't.

beautifulgirls · 01/05/2017 22:08

DH and I have them to scoot with the kids. We love days out on paths around and about, it's great fun and a good way of helping keep fit too. We do now all wear helmets though too after DD came off hers once and had a nasty concussion.

He will look like a twat and people will laugh. Sorry adult scooters, but it's the truth.

Aeroflotgirl · 01/05/2017 22:34

I love my adult micro scooter, its fantastic, if he wants one, why not!

fannydaggerz · 01/05/2017 23:24

Could someone screenshot me a picture of the type of scooter they have? I want one for my commute to work. The traffic is terrible in the morning and I think I could save myself some time but unsure which one to buy.

Scootergirl81 · 01/05/2017 23:33

This is the type I have - I chose one with suspension because the pavements near me are in a fairly poor condition.

icelolly99 · 02/05/2017 01:01

Why not? I know a few parents from my kids schools who use adult scooters on the school run. ☺

Blimey01 · 02/05/2017 01:04

My daughter has an adult one. I've used round the park a few times. Loads of fun.

pollypeanuts · 02/05/2017 01:05

I was in a European capital city last weekend (not saying which to avoid outing). There were loads of people commuting on them. I found myself thinking that it was actually quite sensible.

ShowOfHands · 02/05/2017 07:39

Who cares if people laugh? So they laugh. Then what? You're still having fun, keeping fit etc. Says more about them than you anyway.

Riding a unicycle isn't horrible imho. It's hard work and excellent for core strength. Takes a while to master but is worth it. People are always asking if they can have a go.

NeverTwerkNaked · 02/05/2017 07:46

I have one!! It saves me heaps of time getting to work and I couldn't give a flying duck if small mindedpeople laugh at me!
Since I got one, several more colleagues have bought them too.

Also much safer scooting next to a child than running along behind them.

NeverTwerkNaked · 02/05/2017 07:47

It's also heaps of fun! Reminds me of skiing and windsurfing a bit

EastMidsMummy · 02/05/2017 09:58

Is he a cunt?

Because he's going to start looking like one.

llangennith · 02/05/2017 10:06

I bought an adult's Microscooter 17 years ago. I'm 65yo now and just about within the maximin weight limit Confused but still use it and love scooting.

SoupDragon · 02/05/2017 10:07

Is he a cunt?

Because he's going to start looking like one.

Better than sounding like one.

Some people are bloody dull. I pity them.

SoupDragon · 02/05/2017 10:08

Get one with air filled tyres, its a much smoother ride.

nocake · 02/05/2017 10:12

I have one and a bunch of my friends do. It's the only way I can keep up with DD on hers.

swizzlestar · 02/05/2017 10:34

I bought my dh one for his birthday last week. He absolutely loves it and says it's the best present ever!! Dd is also pleased as he won't be pinching her scooter now Wink.

Get one, it's brilliant! I'm thinking of getting one myself now.

NeverTwerkNaked · 02/05/2017 10:45

wow eastmids life must be fun in your house Hmm

kittykarate · 02/05/2017 10:56

I have one and it's great fun. There's another (much younger/fitter/trendier) woman who rides one as well.

The only downside is that if you are somewhere hilly, it's not much fun in wet weather as the brakes on mine are pretty poor in when the wheel is wet.
