Very trivial! 'I won't eat it so neither can you'.

This is very trivial/unimportant but just wondering am I missing some very obvious logical reason behind it(before I go to the shops).
DH goes to shops today, I offer to go but told no need, just send a list. On it is wholemeal bread (for toast with proper salted butter on it). He arrives back with white, I ask if they didn't have what I asked for.

'Well I won't eat that one you want so I got this in case I want some'.

Is it not more normal to either buy both or just what I asked for since he just 'might' want toast?!
(33 wks pg so possibly irrational at my toast dreams being shattered and having to waddle for an hour to get to the shops and back).

Send him back, after all, you're pregnant! Surely the logical thing is to get both seeing as you want wholemeal and he wants white. I could almost understand if he tried to compromise and got 50-50 or whatever, but to get the one he wants is just selfish.

daimbar · 01/05/2017 18:34

I guess this is why they invented half and half.

sooperdooper · 01/05/2017 18:35

Yes the logical thing would've to buy both, just kill him now Wink

Frillyhorseyknickers · 01/05/2017 18:35

Yeah, your DH is a knob. Send him back out for brown bread and an additional surprise as an apology for being an idiot.

RuggerHug · 01/05/2017 18:36

See if he got half and half like you said I could see the logic/thinking behind it (he would still be wrong though Grin). Just wanted to make sure I wasn't being mental!

33 weeks pregnant? And all you wanted was wholemeal toast not Haribo sours and donuts ?

Send. Him. Back.

wictional · 01/05/2017 18:40

He is VU! Send him back for more! Grin

(I am on a carb-free week and am now craving toast with proper butter so you need some in my stead)

CrohnicallyPregnant · 01/05/2017 18:43

Next time he asks for something specific, get something that's almost-but-not-quite what he asked for.

E.g. He asks for coke, you get Diet Pepsi. He wants a specific bar of chocolate, get your favourite. He wants bacon for a sandwich, get sausages. That'll learn him!

KingJoffreysRestingCuntface · 01/05/2017 18:43

I'd eat him.

CrohnicallyPregnant · 01/05/2017 18:45

As an aside-
Mmmmmm, toast! Something else to put on my post-birth list! (have gestational diabetes and can't tolerate even wholemeal buttered toast)

Gallavich · 01/05/2017 18:45

How bloody mean of him. Why didn't he buy both?

UnbornMortificado · 01/05/2017 18:53

LTB (lighthearted-ish) also pregnant DH went out and picked me up KFC gravy earlier.

RuggerHug · 01/05/2017 18:57

I love you people GrinGrin and I knew I wasn't being unreasonable. Thank you all!

Goatfucker · 01/05/2017 18:59

First kick his arse for being bloody thick, then explain that a loaf of bread will not break the bank so he could easily have bought two.
Tight bastard.

MongerTruffle · 01/05/2017 19:00

If he was worried that it wouldn't get used before it went stale, tell him that that was why freezers were invented.

MusicToMyEars800 · 01/05/2017 19:00

I had this problem with my OH when I was pregnant, I sent him to get me chocolate gateau and he came back with black forest gateau Hmm which I hated at the time, Yanbu, make him go back!

mumonashoestring · 01/05/2017 19:00

Oh my. Just wait til the next time he asks you to pick up some underwear or trousers for him... Grin And yeah, YANBU!

PickAChew · 01/05/2017 19:00

White bread was instant constipation for me, when I was pregnant. Shame, because it was the one time I ever preferred the taste!

Tell him to go back and get what you asked for, tight get.

MusicToMyEars800 · 01/05/2017 19:01

you're handling it better than I did, I almost threw the gateau at him Grin

youarenotkiddingme · 01/05/2017 19:01

He needs to go back. And you need to give him a new list with bread and other goodies on it to make up for his failure Grin

highinthesky · 01/05/2017 19:04

YABVU.

Its when they start to act with a brain in their heads a little consideration for others that you should get worried.

RuggerHug · 01/05/2017 19:05

I just walked out of the room when he said it shaking my head. That was why I decided to ask here in case I missed some decent reason he did it (he's not normally an idiot). Bread now in freezer in preparation for accidently dropping on his bare foot.Grin

OP posts:
TheEternalForever · 01/05/2017 19:11

Unless you are on a really tight budget he could've easily gotten both. Ask him what you're supposed to eat now, seeing as you only eat wholemeal and there's none in the house. Then make him go back and get you some. Cry if you have to Wink

AGnu · 01/05/2017 19:12

I'm 11 weeks & my DH has been to the shops today. Not only did he make a list of required foods but he checked brands & rang me from the shop when they didn't have the specified brand. He then came home, cooked dinner & is now eating with the DC while I whimper on the sofa & try to steel myself to enter the food-filled room just long enough to put together a plate which he usually does but would get wrong with this meal & bring it back to the sofa.

This is how all DHs of pregnant women should behave. He wouldn't go back out to get different bread if he'd just got in though, he'd add it to the list for the next trip.

FurryLittleTwerp · 01/05/2017 19:20

YABU - wholemeal toast is rank! White or granary for me please.

YWNBU to expect your preference though Grin
