To get stuff for a roast dinner. He said we can all walk down (takes about an hour there and back) and make it a nice dog walk with the kids. I don't drive or I'd have gone myself, and the buses are rubbish today.

But about five minutes ago he had a brainwave about making cheese scones. And now he's going to drive to the shop to get the buttermilk (and the roast stuff).

His logic (?) is that making the scones is a family activity so it negates the need to make the trip to the shop a family activity.

I've told him he's being weird. I mean, I'm happy not to have to leave the house and everything, but I just don't get the so called logic.

It's not me, is it? I'm laughing at him and he's looking at me like I'm mad.

I'll put up with his faffing and illogical ways if you send him around with a cheese scone with salted butter ham and chutney please Smile

Pickle - no, they've moved it again, it's in Coventry, the other side of Kenilworth from both Warwick and Leamington Spa. Students gave been known to disappear into it with no means of communication for whole terms at a time. Then they emerge having eaten only Pot Noodles and bringing with them unwashed clothes. Their money has also dematerialised like a pot of gold at the rainbow's end.

Absolutely hate the learn to drive comments. I don't drive. I know the basics and have done some lessons but absolutely hate it. I get in a panic, I feel sick and scared, I just cannot stand it. I walk everywhere and often turn down lifts coz I feel guilty about being driven around. Instead I take buses and walk, I manage just fine and my husband who loves driving is happy to be 'the driver'. I often wonder, would there be less accidents on the road if people weren't driving when they're clearly to nervous too. I've seen plenty of people behind wheels who most certainly shouldn't be! But hey, maybe I should start driving coz otherwise people will think I'm to lazy to learn ffs

Pickle, Warwick University is just outside Coventry. It is also not far from Leamington Spa, where many of the students live when no longer in hall.

My DD1 is a final year student at Warwick. She lives in Leamington Spa and can either get a bus to campus from there or (dare I say it on this thread now!!) drives in. It isn't far. In fact, I guess your relative might agree that Leamington can be full of students.Grin

Thank you for the Leamington Spa explanations... I'll warn DS about the black hole and make sure there are loads of pot noodles and not too much cash to lose. Perhaps we'll tie a rope round his waist when he goes on the open day...
