WTF is it with all these "user" names?

Pick a name - even change it...but I'm getting annoyed by having to differentiate between user1578658 and user35666.

I've decided not to respond to any more "user" posts.

It's bloody annoying Angryand not in the MN spirit

MN have been saying for ages that they know it's annoying but Tech are struggling with it or something. I think some Users have said they had trouble namechanging.

The welcome email to new members has a bit at the bottom about namechanging. I think it should be at the top in big letters.

User, if you go to Account you can do it in there. I think it's supposed to be easier on the desktop / mobile sites than on the app.

Yes, some people are still unable to change them apparently.

It's so annoying though and I too, tend not to respond much to them because it's confusing.

I was given my user name by MN when I joined. It is not my fault not the fault of other users. You are being mean to us.

I was allocated a "user-number" name when I joined but couldn't change it straight away - not sure why. Most message boards get you to choose a user name when you register - not sure why MN doesn't do this

I'm on the ipad app at the moment so I had a quick look to see how to do it there. Touch the menu symbol (3 horizontal lines) in the top right corner of the screen and choose My Mumsnet. This gave me a change username screen - replace the current one and then Save, presumably.

Go on, try it Usernnnns!

Hmph - I'm liable to be huffy with any hapless User....12 now. GrinIt really is a bit of a PITA. There's some threads in education which have a couple of knowledgeable Usernnns, and it can be hard to keep track of which said what, or if another User weighs in

I tend to assume that the user number people are goady fuckers or out to cause conflict actually. Even if they aren't I can't really invest too much time in differentiating between them. I wish MNHQ would get it sorted.

Yeah but to be fair, some aren't able to change.

It's some sort of problem on either the mobile site or something else.

I wasn't really paying attention, but there is a thread somewhere in site stuff where HQ just keep apologising, and promising that tech are onto it.
