WTF is it with all these "user" names?

Pick a name - even change it...but I'm getting annoyed by having to differentiate between user1578658 and user35666.

I've decided not to respond to any more "user" posts.

It's bloody annoying Angryand not in the MN spirit

I chose my name when I signed up. Never had a "user1234567" name.

It does get confusing when you get several different "user"s replying on a thread.

I couldn't change mine the first time I tried.

I tend to skip past them if there are several users on a thread.

What really irritates me is the deleted threads not being removed in Trending/Discussions of the Day so that people click on them and they stay there. So many times I have seen that it was going to be fixed so don't hold out any hope of the user issue being fixed anytime this century either.

I've not been on here long and I never had a User name, I went straight in and took ages to get a proper name as the good ones had gone! Grin

Thanks for reporting your thread, OP. We know this is a somewhat frustrating issue for most of you (although some posters seem to like the anonymity of being user12345 so it's not all bad!)

Anyway, at the risk of sounding like a broken record (this subject has been mentioned on Site Stuff a few times), Tech are working on it and, as soon as we have an update from them, we'll pass that on to you all.

For those having issues with name changing, you need to go into the section at the top of the page called 'My Mumsnet' and then into 'My Account' and you should find the box for name changing there. If you are still having issues, please do flag this up to us directly at HQ and we'll take a look.

Errm, Lou, you sound like a broken record because you've been saying the same thing for almost a year, and people sort of hope there might have been some progress. Can't Tech give you some sort of inkling about where they are with this and when it will be resolved?

I was given my user name by MN when I joined. It is not my fault not the fault of other users. You are being mean to us.

And this is the problem with so much of the country right now. 'Oh it isn't my fault. Other people did this and to change anything I'm going to have to make a fucking effort for 30 seconds of my life. Do you know how many cat videos I could watch in that time? Next you'll be complaining because I don't vote just sit about and bitch about everything'.
