I know I am NBU but I just need to see if everyone else would be as fuming as I am.

DH has just picked DCs up from school. Last night DH cooked delicious roast chicken dinner. He was in charge of clearing up afterwards. There were two chicken pieces which he left on the hob in the roasting tin. I thought he was going to give them to the dog.

DD aged 7yrs has just come upto me and told me that she's just eaten two pieces of chicken and it was delicious!

I've checked...DH didn't heat up the chicken, which has been on the top of the hob in our warm kitchen, *(ie not in the fridge) for approximately 10 hours.

I thought she'd just swiped them, but no, DH gave them her to eat. FFS!

I think you are lucky to have a husband who will cook family meals for you.

I can't believe I just read that.

joannegrady90 · 24/04/2017 18:57

You sound hard work ok!

He cooked cleaned but you're still not happy.

It's chicken not heroin 😂😂

WankingMonkey · 24/04/2017 18:57

I missed the bit that everyone is bolding and still can't fine it Grin

But yes, what the fuck indeed. Is it not normal for husbands to do their share of household chores and stuff? In our house its mainly DH who cooks as he is better at it than me...never thought to count myself lucky that I married a male who will actually help around the house Grin

It was a joke by a PP, the following post confirmed it was dry humour.

doubleshotespresso · 24/04/2017 19:10

I am genuinely shocked as to how utterly ignorant so many on here are on basic food hygiene .

OP YANBU- That is really ropey, I wouldn't fall out with your DH over it but I certainly would educate him. On this occasion lets hope your DD gets away with it, but this is a very bad habit to adopt.

PeaFaceMcgee · 24/04/2017 19:11

Scaryclown followed it up with:

(couldn't resist some dry dark humour) Grin

The grin gives it away, you see Wink

ArsenalsPlayingAtHome · 24/04/2017 19:11

joannegrady90 Grin. That certainly put it in perspective for me!

Thanks everyone. DD is absolutely fine. DH is loving the comments about me being lucky that he cooks and cleans, though! Wink

Sorry, I missed it. It shouldn't have been on the following post. The shock was too great and there have been some real idiots on threads these days.

ArsenalsPlayingAtHome · 24/04/2017 19:21

FoamyBananaSweets Shock...just Shock!

shouldn't campy be all killed if cooked correctly? Where did the new campy come from to reinfect the chicken?

AuldAlliance · 24/04/2017 19:26

I've done a number of food hygiene courses and that chicken would have gone in the bin if it realised it had been out that long.

That would be one clever chicken...

PeaFaceMcgee · 24/04/2017 19:26

You don't know what bacteria are present or what toxins might have been released by them.

YouBloodyWhat · 24/04/2017 19:36

It's not a great idea but I wouldn't be fuming. I'd just tell him why he shouldn't do it again. She'd have to be exceedingly unlucky to get food poisoning from doing this ONE time.

WankingMonkey · 24/04/2017 19:41

I didn't see the grin as I could only find that part by what others were quoting. My bad Blush

Still can't find the whole post. Me and MN do not mix it seems...

user1493059174 · 24/04/2017 19:47

Um - the chicken would be fine for men, women, children & dogs!! But if I were you I would go and give that DH a great big hug - he cooked a delicious chicken dinner AND cleared up!!?? That's the kind of stuff dreams are made of in this house!!

Fibbertigibbet · 24/04/2017 19:50

Less than ideal, but she'll likely be fine. Calm down.

(on the flip side if she does get sick, have your DH clean it up)

MyLittleBoyBlue · 24/04/2017 19:53

user174 I don't get it? Does your partner not cook and clean, or do you not have a partner?

StillDrivingMeBonkers · 24/04/2017 19:55

I've just told DH ......... and told him that I started a posted about it

That'll teach him, imaginary women, rabid at a keyboard.

user1492728351 · 24/04/2017 20:00

Hold on am i missing something? They'd been cooked the night before and had only been sat on the cooker overnight? Isn't that the same as making a roast chicken sandwich from leftovers? lol how is this trending???

user1493059174 · 24/04/2017 20:05

Yup - I have a (STBXH) Puts the bins out on a Monday (if I remind him!)

Astro55 · 24/04/2017 20:08

IF it's been in the fridge - not left out with the heat and flies

Ellisandra · 24/04/2017 20:13

If I made a chicken sandwich in the morning at 08:00, took it to work, wasn't hungry, got home and at it at 18:00 I wouldn't think twice about it.
It would have been covered up - but I've not seen any flies in my kitchen yet this year.

Wouldn't bother me, then I certainly wouldn't argue that it is Ultimate Zero Risk Food Hygiene!

sadie9 · 24/04/2017 20:14

Most people leave their Turkey carcass sitting on a counter on Christmas Day and then go back and cut more off it on Boxing Day. When I was a kid, the Turkey carcass could be sitting out for a couple of days and no one batted an eyelid....
