Help. If you were a three year old, where would you hide £100??

MIL came on Friday, stayed, and went back home this afternoon. She's just now called to say that she has discovered herself £100 lighter (five £20 notes). Apparently she left said notes on a low shelf where toddler had easy access FFS. She swears she has searched all her own possessions from top to bottom and can't find the bloody money. So, where might you put £100 if you were three??

Oven gloves, took days to find my keys there!

AnnieMeekly · 27/04/2017 11:21

Oh no! Definitely try all the toys! Have you asked LO? Check that room top to bottom, and then wherever your 3yo spends most of their time.. and everywhere else!

Fragglez · 27/04/2017 11:50

Inside an outdoor toy?

Db lost his favourite teddy inside the pannier of my pushbike. Poor thing was in there for weeks.

missy111 · 27/04/2017 11:51

In the freezer

moonbells · 27/04/2017 12:14

Dressing gown pocket (a week after reporting wallet missing)

iamapixiebutnotaniceone · 27/04/2017 12:16

In between floorboards!

BananaThePoet · 27/04/2017 12:40

Between pages of books or magazines. In a pile of paper like stacks of letters/junk mail. In the recycling bin.

ShyOyster · 27/04/2017 12:46

DS at that age would put random things in the washing machine.
Or tidy up and put it in one of his toy boxes.
How silly though to leave £100 within an easy reach of a small child!!!

Dutchoma · 27/04/2017 13:00

In spite of what mil says about searching for it, I still think the most likely explanation is that she put them back in her handbag. Unless someone is with her when she takes everything out, I'm not believing that it is anything to do with the toddler.
Did you see the money on the shelf? How long was it supposed to be there for?

gamerchick · 27/04/2017 13:05

Just tell her you've all hunted high and low and when/if it turns up you'll let her know.

Applebite · 27/04/2017 13:06

I agree. unless they were clipped together in some way, even if a toddler picked up 5 pieces of paper, what are the chances of him carrying them all and not dropping one somewhere?!

hopefully she's just been a bit forgetful and finds them.

wobblywindows · 27/04/2017 13:06

I have a get out for your MIL, if she finds she needs one. Entirely possible that her handbag has a split in the lining somewhere and the money is there behind the lining. I once found a fiver that a bloke at work had lost - he swore he had put it in the back pocket of his jeans, but didn't know about a split in the jeans just below the waistband, and he had in fact tucked the fiver in his pants. I only suggested he look there, I didn't find it there myself. If you can suggest this, then if MIL does find the money herself she's got an excuse.

pinkie1982 · 27/04/2017 13:09

My purse was in the bin yesterday

blueskyquacking · 27/04/2017 14:39

Rabbit hutch, cat poo tray?

I went through a phase at that age of 'feeding' all the dressmaking pins in the house to my rubber duck, which had a convenient hole in its beak. And 10ps went inside a toy lion because they had lions on.

JacquelineChan · 27/04/2017 16:32

my ds hid my house keys in the mop bucket.

random shoes have also been found in the wendy house

Outcomesthebunnyofdeath · 27/04/2017 16:42

I would post it, in that tiny space where the oven just sits under the worktop.

MsGemJay · 27/04/2017 17:01

Erm.... I don't know how to answer this nicely?
I your MIL expecting you to look for it?

In honesty all I would do is ask my child if she saw the purple paper where it was left? If she says no then it's cool, she didn't move it.

Your MIL needs to be more careful. Nobody can really leave money lying about. As much as I love my MIL and would feel bad, it really isn't your fault and I wouldn't spend time looking. If you come across it then great! But otherwise it' should prolly in the toilet/bin/sofa/washing machine/freezer/out the letter box or cat flap 🤣
Sorry xx

Pet bed.

Bantanddec · 27/04/2017 17:10

Smells like bullshit, who randomly leaves 100 on a shelf at someone else's house?

SabineUndine · 27/04/2017 17:18

I'm with the people who suggested giving your LO a fiver and asking her to hide it.

SabineUndine · 27/04/2017 17:23

Him, sorry!

SoulAccount · 27/04/2017 17:26

Child's money box?
Your purse, or anywhere else adults are seen to put money
Toy handbag, till etc.
Out through the letterbox

Toyslayer · 27/04/2017 19:49

If you have a DVD player she may have 'posted' them x

Bitlost · 27/04/2017 21:40

Anywhere at her height level.
