Help. If you were a three year old, where would you hide £100??

MIL came on Friday, stayed, and went back home this afternoon. She's just now called to say that she has discovered herself £100 lighter (five £20 notes). Apparently she left said notes on a low shelf where toddler had easy access FFS. She swears she has searched all her own possessions from top to bottom and can't find the bloody money. So, where might you put £100 if you were three??

Have you asked? Dvd/video player?

lazycrazyhazy · 23/04/2017 19:00

Do you have a printer? Our children used to post stuff into he video player (showing my age) and the printer which both had convenient slots.

peaceloveandbiscuits · 23/04/2017 19:00

Ooh the shredder!

SecretNetter · 23/04/2017 19:01

Brilliant suggestion from a pp. Give dc some more money - or maybe put it in the same place the last lot was - and watch like a hawk.

Anditstartsagain · 23/04/2017 19:01

Ds1 used to put everything that he didn't want in the bin my gran lost her cordless phone that way. Hopefully it's not there. If you and she cant find it it's not your problem though.

alltouchedout · 23/04/2017 19:02

Ds3 likes to post things back out through the post box. Luckily this is quite tricky, especially if you are very little, so usually the things get stuck.
A lot of things he helpfully puts in the recycling bins. Or in random shoes.

TheRealPooTroll · 23/04/2017 19:02

Ask the 3 year old? In an inquisitive and not a 'you're in trouble' way.
If they have moved it it could be anywhere that is possible.
Is MIL an honest person or trying to get you to 'pay back' £100 that was never there do you think?
It's an odd pace to leave money. Why did she even have it out of her purse?

Babbaganush · 23/04/2017 19:03

Behind the radiator, posted into any tiny gap between, under or behind furniture. In a book, bag, purse?

Anditstartsagain · 23/04/2017 19:04

Oh I once lost £20 and found it inside the sofa when we broke it apart to get it outside about 2 years later.

Rosieandtim · 23/04/2017 19:05

Do we win a prize if we're right?

Grilledaubergines · 23/04/2017 19:05

In with a box of Lego.

Under a bed

Spent In the bookies

Toy truck with a compartment, or anything with a compartment.

In your purse.

MimsyFluff · 23/04/2017 19:05

DC1 once hid three SD cards somewhere we moved house emptied the place and still didn't find them. Good luck OP

Whereismumhiding2 · 23/04/2017 19:06

Down the floorboards, if there is a gap.

Sorry MAIL has lost this money but it could be anywhere! Try obvious places, like dolly's handbags etc..!

Silly for MIL to leave cash out with toddlers around. The down the floorboards is where i found my then H's missing credit & debit cards and about & £45 in notes from several years of toddler DS posting it down there. Those were floor boards we had up before we moved... i bet our old house was a goldmine if they did any repairs!

MiscellaneousAssortment · 23/04/2017 19:06

Anywhere that's satisfying to 'post' them into... sofa, floorboards, toy post box/ DVD player/ letter box (eek!), under doors, seats and ash trays or hiddy holes in car, posting into drawers, especially if open a crack then closed. Also bars on cots or bedsteads, or banisters, stair gates, under mats and rugs.

Also hiding in pencil cases, boxes, pockets especially coat pockets. Puzzles or toys with doors and/or locks, behind doors/flaps in books.

Or sneakily handed to random people like the post man!

Sorry, that's a list of basically everywhere.

Lules · 23/04/2017 19:06

Washing machine. Everything always ends up in the washing machine. Or the gap between the machine and the counter top.

Justmadeperfectflapjacks · 23/04/2017 19:06

Dd used to sleep walk and hid the rent money in my pans!!

Lules · 23/04/2017 19:08

Oh or through the letterbox

Madwoman5 · 23/04/2017 19:08

Dishwasher, fridge, drawers, behind furniture, toilet, bin, her purse or bag, bookbag, sock drawer, dolly pram, or anywhere she has seen you hide money (her version). Tell her poor nana has forgotten where she put the money and says she put it there, do you know where nanas money is cos she is very worried she lost it....

Littleraincloud · 23/04/2017 19:09

Under a rug?

LauraGashley · 23/04/2017 19:10

How frustrating for you. Would they recognise it as money or "treasure" if so, Why not make a game of it and ask them if they want to play treasure hunts, and if they know where any is?
If not, what would they think it was? Paper for colouring? Tissues? Where would they put something like that?

NapQueen · 23/04/2017 19:10

In a dressy up bag or purse

BreatheDeep · 23/04/2017 19:10

My 3 year old DS would probably gleefully tell me if I asked! Agree with the gaps in floorboards if you have them. We have a small hole at the edge of a room and there is a little stash of coins down there thanks to DS. No idea how many he posted before we realised!

unlimiteddilutingjuice · 23/04/2017 19:11

Posted out of the letter box (sorry, but that's what mine would do)
Push them into the slot for DVDs
Behind a radiator
In the washing machine
Any toys with cupboards? Toy kitchen or similar?
With the felt tips- all nicely coloured in

whatsonyourplate · 23/04/2017 19:11

Outside the cat flap.

yomellamoHelly · 23/04/2017 19:11

Dd had a till, so may have gone in there. Also a little postbox game and a boat with a letterbox. Got any toy purses / bags?
