Help. If you were a three year old, where would you hide £100??

MIL came on Friday, stayed, and went back home this afternoon. She's just now called to say that she has discovered herself £100 lighter (five £20 notes). Apparently she left said notes on a low shelf where toddler had easy access FFS. She swears she has searched all her own possessions from top to bottom and can't find the bloody money. So, where might you put £100 if you were three??

Put a sock over the end of a vacuum cleaner hose, then go around all the nooks and crannies of the house.

LilQueenie · 23/04/2017 20:07

in the bedroom under a pile of toys. DD did exactly this with her dads bank book filled with notes.

Crapuccino · 23/04/2017 20:08

Ooh Monger that's genius!

Mine used to flush stuff down the toilet at 3
If you asked where something was and she said "Gone" you could guarantee you weren't going to see it again!
Luckily she only flushed non-important stuff!

temporarynamech · 23/04/2017 20:15

Mine used to like 'posting' things into any kind of slots. We had a gas fire that had a kind of grill round the top, every year at the annual service we would be given a selection of toys from inside the fire. The video player (do people still have them?) was also a popular place to poke small items.

Itsnotwhatitseems · 23/04/2017 20:16

it sounds like your son didn't pick the notes up, his reaction to what he did when you showed him them makes it clear if he had, his Dad would be £100 richer, its likely she has mislaid them elsewhere poor thing

WildKiwi · 23/04/2017 20:16

My DH just said that clearly your DS would give any money found to your DH since he's "head of the household" (see another trending thread). I'm actually quite surprised - didn't think he listened when I shared what I was reading on Mumsnet!

LemonsAndLollies · 23/04/2017 20:17

There's also rounding up the little tyke and saying you want to play a joke by hiding something, where is the best hiding place? He might just take you to the money (assuming the missing money isn't just a figment).

GaelicSiog · 23/04/2017 20:18

Mine would have flushed. Sorry op

OnTheUp13 · 23/04/2017 20:19

It's always in the toy garage, a shoe or the washing machine in our house

Coughandsplutter · 23/04/2017 20:20

Shoes

Loulalollipop · 23/04/2017 20:21

My sister put a set of keys in the letterbox when she was little. Didn't have the strength to open the outside flap so they just sat in between the openings for 3 hours whilst my mum turned the house upside down!

TooGood2BeFalse · 23/04/2017 20:21

Shoes.Check all the shoes.

Toy box here.

My parents put everything down within reach - ipad, medication, wallet, open make up bag. Luckily 3 yo isn't a grabber. I was not impressed with the open pack of paracetamol on the coffee table in playroom.

SpeckledyHen · 23/04/2017 20:43

My DS used to put everything in a flower pot - down the gap between the plastic pot and the fancy outer pot iykwim .

IloveBanff · 23/04/2017 20:44

OP, have I missed your answer to this question? Have you asked the 3 yr old?

CherryLips1980 · 23/04/2017 20:47

In said toddlers bowel movements. If yours if anything like mine, that is.

twoforthepriceofone22 · 23/04/2017 20:48

Anywhere with a slot, DVD player, side of the cupboard, back of the sofa, drawers... Notes are perfect for posting!

AngelBlue12 · 23/04/2017 20:50

In the Ferrari ride on car under the seat!

Anditstartsagain · 23/04/2017 20:51

It sounds to me shes lost it and a 3 year old is the best explaination.

Crapuccino · 23/04/2017 20:59

IloveBanff: OP, have I missed your answer to this question? Have you asked the 3 yr old?

I did. I asked him if he'd played with any money and he showed me his little penny postbox which he did play with yesterday (only has coins inside) and then when I showed him notes and asked if he'd played with any of those or seen any, I'm not really sure he quite got it. Instead he just took them off me, told me that they belonged to daddy, and took them straight to DH.

Do you have any vents? My brother once posted my mum's engagement ring through one...

ColourfulOrangex · 23/04/2017 21:05

@Crapuccino I love how he took your notes to his daddy Grin my son at that age had an obsession with the freezer, the amount of times he had cold feet because he had put his trainers in there Hmm

mummabearfoyrbabybears · 23/04/2017 21:07

Post it out of the letterbox 'for the postman' like my three year old did? It was my watch Sad never to be seen again!
