Help. If you were a three year old, where would you hide £100??

MIL came on Friday, stayed, and went back home this afternoon. She's just now called to say that she has discovered herself £100 lighter (five £20 notes). Apparently she left said notes on a low shelf where toddler had easy access FFS. She swears she has searched all her own possessions from top to bottom and can't find the bloody money. So, where might you put £100 if you were three??

We had one of ds's friends round once who was obsessed with posting letters through slats in the fence.

Itsjustaphase84 · 23/04/2017 19:12

Gaps in floorboards.
In toy car with lift up seat.
Do they have a bag/back pack?
Back of radiator
In their jeans pockets. Or coat

Good luck

We discover d our second son's greatest joy was 'collecting money' and posting it in the kitchen bin. We'd been thinking we'd been taking cash from each other's wallets until £150 was missing in one go. We never did find it.

Fruitcocktail6 · 23/04/2017 19:14

I have no suggestions really, just surprised MIL took £100 out of her purse and put it on a low shelf at your house, then needed it when she got home? I don't understand.

steff13 · 23/04/2017 19:14

My daughter always hid everything in the microwave of her play kitchen.

haveacupoftea · 23/04/2017 19:14

She left £100 sitting on a low shelf in a house she was visiting for the weekend Hmm bollocks

mathanxiety · 23/04/2017 19:15

Put Monopoly money in the same spot and exclaim to the 3 yo that there is money there. See what he does with it.

A little boy I used to nanny for would shove 'treasures' into nooks and crannies in the couch - between the seat cushions especially.

StubbleTurnips · 23/04/2017 19:16

Check between decking boards in tor garden if you have them.

Although when our 3y old finds cash it goes straight in her sealed money box Hmm

Crunchymum · 23/04/2017 19:17

Can you ask the 3yo?

StandardNameHere · 23/04/2017 19:18

May be a daft idea but could you give her another note and she what she does with it?

Fuxfurforall · 23/04/2017 19:18

About three weeks ago my two year old wandered off with my earrings. 10 seconds later I followed and they were nowhere to be seen. I've just found them under the sofa cushion. Worth a shot?

edwinbear · 23/04/2017 19:19

except I can't link the photo Sad

KayTee87 · 23/04/2017 19:19

Are you absolutely sure you believe mil? It's such an odd thing for her to have done.

VladmirsPoutine · 23/04/2017 19:19

She seriously just left 5 £20 notes on a low shelf? Seriously? She just thought, 'I know, I'll just empty my wallet and put these notes down here'.
I'm not accusing you of trollerly but who the fuck would do that!?

SirVixofVixHall · 23/04/2017 19:20

My dds always put money into handbags or purses. Dd1 did once post my debit card into the floorboards though, but she was about 18m then. A three year old should easily be able to remember where they put the money surely? Failing a bag, something like a box is most likely.

HereWeGoRound · 23/04/2017 19:20

My 2.5-yr-old took a brand new 128GB memory stick "for a walk" the other day. She couldn't remember where to. I offered chocolate buttons if she could find it. She claimed it was in a black bin bag. Couldn't find it in there. Next day, I was packing the baby change bag, and there it was. Makes sense that she put it in there if she wanted to take it for a walk, I guess.

UppityHumpty · 23/04/2017 19:20

Toilet. Bet he flushed it

toomuchtooold · 23/04/2017 19:20

In the cable trench of your Ikea desk. That's where DD2 hid her favourite teddy bear and then forgot about him. 2 hours doing a fingertip search of the house before I found that furry little bugger. We call him Troublemaker now. That's his new name.

Alternatively OP if your MIL has form for creating drama, then maybe the hundred quid is in her imagination.

edwinbear · 23/04/2017 19:21

That was meant to say 'out the window of a top floor flat'. Which I have a great photo of but can't seem to attach.

happypoobum · 23/04/2017 19:21

DS used to put things out the cat flap.

In shoes
With teddies
pencil case
knicker drawer
does she have a bag or purse?
washing machine

fishonabicycle · 23/04/2017 19:22

In a boot (my son put husband's keys in a Welly once).

Floralnomad · 23/04/2017 19:22

Ask the child ,if it doesn't know then just tell MIL that if you ever come across it you will give it back , I wouldn't bother looking for it , I doubt it was ever in your house .

Wando1986 · 23/04/2017 19:23

Ask the kid, tell them if they show you where they have hidden it they can have a special icecream prize or something.

abbsisspartacus · 23/04/2017 19:23

Through the letter box my son posted his dummy out the letter box on many occasions it will be long gone
