Now I'm not a Scrooge by any means but it really annoys me that every year Christmas starts earlier and earlier. As far as I'm concerned Christmas should happen during December only and let the rest of the year be "normal"

So here we are in the Isle of Wight during Easter, enjoying the lovely spring weather etc etc and what do I spot? This shop! And it was open! And there were people in there! And just the sight of it gave me the rage!

TBH I'm amazed the place can afford to keep going but obviously there are enough people out there willing to shop for Christmas stuff all year round.

So AIBU to be annoyed by this?

You are NOT BU, I can't stand that it starts so early but Easter takes the piss. What other crap are they selling in there to keep it going? It totally reduces the joy of the festive season when it's thrust in your face from sodding April.

YABU. There's a beautiful Christmas shop near where I live, open all year round. I love it (although I don't buy anything from it from Jan -- Nov and I do wonder how it keeps going).

It's not starting early. The Christmas shop is there all year round. There are loads in Scandinavia/Iceland. I bought baubles in February last year!

We have a christmas shop too but i think it sells mostly to tourists 10 months out of the year

My neighbour had their decorations up 364 days early. They were up on Boxing Day. Luckily, they saw sense though & took them down.

My parents live in the IOW, they have never mentioned this! There is one in Gloucestershire as well, it always annoys me when we drive past!!

For some reason I think of Christmas shops as quite a different thing to regular shops selling their Christmas stuff too early. The latter pisses me off, but the former not so much.

My mum loves to collect Christmas ornaments from places she travels to, and I think that's probably the kind of person these places are mostly aimed at. But it's also kind of fun to go into one in July and just enjoy the weirdness of the situation!

there are two in Edinburgh and quite popular especially with the tourists. I regularly take DD in and she has a good collection of baubles now. Much better than the cheap stuff you get in the shops at christmas time too.

Love the Christmas shop in York! Its different to normal shops getting their festive stuff out early.

Just go in and smash their bloody baubles if it gives you the rage. That'll teach 'em.

We always try to buy a Christmas tree decoration when we go away even if it's not all that Christmassy e.g. a cinnamon bark Dove from a church in Yorkshire. We have bought things from the year round Christmas shops in Edinburgh, Reykjavic and Jasper, Canada among other places. Incidentally, the best Christmas things are from Germany and Eastern Europe especially Poland.

That shop is in Shanklin, IOW, and has been there for some time

There is one in Bourton-on-the-water too. We look in from time to time, never bought anything though.

There used to be one on the Royal Mile in Edinburgh, not sure if it's still there. Was always heaving with tourists in July.

I bought stuff from the one in Disneyland in January this year.

It's there all year round! I've been there. At least it's providing employment? There's one in Edinburgh too. It is odd but meh. Worse things happen at sea.
