That just the sight of this shop gives me the rage!?

Now I'm not a Scrooge by any means but it really annoys me that every year Christmas starts earlier and earlier. As far as I'm concerned Christmas should happen during December only and let the rest of the year be "normal"

So here we are in the Isle of Wight during Easter, enjoying the lovely spring weather etc etc and what do I spot? This shop! And it was open! And there were people in there! And just the sight of it gave me the rage!

TBH I'm amazed the place can afford to keep going but obviously there are enough people out there willing to shop for Christmas stuff all year round.

So AIBU to be annoyed by this?

I love Christmas shops. So there.

There's a goodun in padstow. Continental European ones are best though. I got the most beautiful snow globe last year in France. I'm a sucker for a special new ornament, and have Ben known to make a pilgrimage to Liberty when their Christmas shop opens...

Whatever you do op dont stray onto the christmas boards on here!
You will be really raging then !
I love christmas and have a little bit of it all year long. It makes me happy !
I would love a local christmas shop but alas it is not to be !

You are all cracking me up with your outrage! Obviously it was lighthearted. I'm not really sitting here seething at the sight of that person's shop! Grin

I was just shocked to see such a shop and couldn't believe they had enough trade all year round.

There's a brilliant large Christmas shop in Crieff, along from the Visitor Centre. It has some terrific collectible European items, no trash whatsoever. We visit there twice a year and my daughters (who are grown up) love it to bits. We always buy a Christmas themed souvenir whenever we are on holiday, it brings back happy memories just looking at them. Lots of nostalgia in looking at the Disney ones bought in Florida in various Julys throughout the decades.

PeaFaceMcgee · 23/04/2017 12:46

Ahhh, it's jolly. I wouldn't let it enrage me. Be pleased someone is earning a living! Cute business.

5foot I've just got back from Barcelona and didn't see a Christmas shop (not to say there is not one) but you can buy "The Shitting Man" most places where there are tourists. They do a charming selection of famous characters in this position as well Grin

WildwestWind · 23/04/2017 12:58

more yes the one in Stratford is still there and is always packed with tourists.

ChippingInLovesChristmasLights · 23/04/2017 13:13

Backtracking now op?!

I love Christmas Shops when I'm on holiday. Like many others I like to buy a Christmas ornament when I'm on holiday. It's lovely unpacking the Christmas Dec's and having reminders of holidays or other special things.

Like many others - Christmas stuff in regular shops in bloody August, no, just no. Christmas shop all year around, fine.

BusterTheBulldog · 23/04/2017 13:18

They're in loads of places. Bourton on the water, bath and York just to name places I've seen them recently. Wherever there are overseas tourists generally.

Judydreamsofhorses · 23/04/2017 13:21

I always love the one in Edinburgh when we're there, it's like a little bit of magic.

VestalVirgin · 23/04/2017 13:27

I love how anachronistic they are. That's fun.

To be honest, I didn't know what the point of them was, but it makes sense that they cater to Christmas ornament collectors.

user1487175389 · 23/04/2017 13:28

I agree. But it does look more tasteful than the Xmas shops I've seen round here, albeit later in the year.

elQuintoConyo · 23/04/2017 13:32

5foot5 no there aren't any Christmas shops in Barcelona. Their Christmas traditions are a little different to ours.

You can, 'however, buy the caganer online all year round:

www.caganer.com/en/

And you can make your own Caga Tio (shitting log) out of a bit of wood from the woods! Smiley face, legs, jaunty hat and you're good to go.
