Urghhhh. This quote seems to have reared its ugly head again (in my life at least, twice on fb and once on IG) .

Clearly Ms. Moss has never eaten a millionaires shortbread from the M&S café...

OP posts:

I'm skinny, underweight for my height and I disagree with the quote. Mini Eggs, salted caramel ice cream, Milka chocolate, Creme Eggs, Lindt bunnies, the pink and blue bobbly things from Allsorts. They all taste better and I've eaten all of those in the past week.

floraeasy · 21/04/2017 17:12

It's always been one of the diet tips, hasn't it?

When you want to pig out on something just for the sake of eating, try and think beyond actually eating it and imagine how bloated you will feel afterwards. Plus, the work it's going to take to shift it. Need to weigh up if it's worth it. It helps to put treats back into their proper place - birthdays, Christmas etc, instead of being a daily event.

I don't manage to do this as often as I'd like myself! It's one of those things that comes under the category of "simple, but not easy".

Chippednailvarnishing · 21/04/2017 17:16

WTF is wrong with people, maybe finding out why body weight is so crucial to your own self esteem would be healthier than aspiring to be "skinny".

NotInMyBackYard1 · 21/04/2017 17:19

I personally prefer to work on the principle of deciding whether I am hungry using the 'apple' test - if I am hungry enough to eat an apple then it is true hunger and I can eat said apple, if I don't actually fancy eating the apple then I am just bored not hungry!

PacificDogwod · 21/04/2017 17:23

It's a stoopid quote I wonder whether Ms Moss actually said it, or whether it is simply attributed to her?

Fwiw, I am my ideal weight now, having lost about 3 st 2 years ago. Yes, I like what I see in the mirror, but do I feel better? Nope. I'm just me, living my life with all its joys and problems.
Being overweight no doubt is a health issue, but slim people can be unhappy too. And overweight ones can be happy - imagine!! Wink

RosyGold · 21/04/2017 17:29

I used to take drugs and hardly ever eat - I was about 7 and a half stone and weak and miserable. But since I knocked all that on the head I've gained 2 and a half stone, enjoy good food and drink and don't give a stuff GrinWine

haveacupoftea · 21/04/2017 17:30

She's obviously never had the garlic and chilli crispy beef from my local Chinese Grin

RainyDayBear · 21/04/2017 17:31

Whoever said that clearly needs better wine in their life!

specialsubject · 21/04/2017 17:31

Personally I don't take advice from people who pout for a living, and especially not from those who are also drug users.

floraeasy · 21/04/2017 17:32

It's different for us all, I suppose.

When I am happy, food holds little interest for me - it's just fuel.

When I overeat and pile on weight - I know depression has me in its grip again.

For me, it's not my weight that makes me feel happy or unhappy. My weight is a reflection of how I feel inside. The feelings come first, then the weight.

WhooooAmI24601 · 21/04/2017 17:38

I've been skinny - properly heartbreak skinny. Costco's giant cupcakes taste so much better than skinny feels. Lindt red balls taste so much better than skinny feels. Pina colada's taste better than skinny feels. My MIL's sunday roast tastes better than skinny feels. I could go on for hours about all the deliciousness the world has to offer.

LynetteScavo · 21/04/2017 17:51

Maybe it depends what kind of tastebuds you have. I have very active tastebuds. Thin or garlic bread, thin or garlic bread? Er...garlic garlic bread thanks.

CarrieBradshaw85 · 21/04/2017 17:57

I hate this saying my future sil says this. OH's family are health nuts. The look of shock when I told them I had a Krispy Kreme as an afternoon snack when the office brought them round. Then a huge lecture saying that one doughnut is enough calories to last you all day. Cake

halobean · 21/04/2017 17:58

Oops. This is mine and my friends mantra when we are on our post xmas diet. It is kind of true though... nothing nicer than feeling slim and in good shape.... much better than being greedy and eating crap.

Munchkin1412 · 21/04/2017 18:25

I thought this today while eating an IKEA cinnamon bun 😬 I have lost a couple of stone recently and I really don't want to put it back on. And it is nicer to go shopping now. But not as good as an ikea cinnamon bun.

JuneFromBethesda · 21/04/2017 18:56

This thread has just made me hungry for junk food Grin

SpitefulMidLifeAnimal · 21/04/2017 19:23

Carrie, a chocolate custard KK donut has 300 calories. Tell SIL to ODFOD.

MrsPinkCock · 21/04/2017 19:27

Bullshit.

Have a Jaffa cake.

DayGlo · 21/04/2017 19:31

Absolute bollocks!

I'm far from fat (hourglass size 12), but being skinnier than your body naturally wants to be (ie. through very restrictive sting) doesn't feel good in ANY sense of the world. I've done it and it feels awful and shows in your face too, especially over 30.

I urge all of ye to watch this [ grin].

Laiste · 21/04/2017 19:35

flora i'm the complete opposite! When i'm happy the pounds go on.

When i was at my most stressed and miserable about 10 years ago i looked bloody amazing! Grin

PNGirl · 21/04/2017 19:48

If I want to be anything under a booby, hippy size 12 I literally have to do the Special K diet. For months. I managed 9st13 on my wedding day which gave me a 28 waist and a size 10 wedding dress, but I've got shoulders like a rugby player and a stocky build.

In a recent period of stress I lost half a stone but as soon as I went back to 3 meals a day (lunch being soup and Ryvita!) it went back on again. I ain't living off a cereal starvation diet for nobody.

CarrieBradshaw85 · 21/04/2017 20:07

Spiteful I would but they are both nurses and I am not so I jut say it was a one off and that it won't happen for ages....then I go home and order a pizza :D

EurusHolmes · 21/04/2017 20:56

Speaking as someone who's had anorexia I can categorically say this isn't true

HashiAsLarry · 21/04/2017 21:03

Then a huge lecture saying that one doughnut is enough calories to last you all day
WTAF??? Enough sugar maybe, but calories? That's seriously crazy

UppityHumpty · 21/04/2017 21:05

Kate Moss is a crack junkie with a fake septum, probably has a wrinkled and saggy bottom, and looks far far older than her years. Maybe if she had eaten something now and again she'd actually look her age rather than 10-20 years older!
