*Trigger Warning* AIBU to not understand how this YouTuber isn't being investigated for child abuse?

So I actually found out about this channel via another large forum I post on. Essentially, a YouTube channel which is called DaddyOFive (it's reasonably large, around three quarters of a million subscribers) centres around a blog made by the father, with 5 children. The upshot of it is, people were angry about how the family, lead by the father; bully one of their children Cody, and pass it off as just 'good old fashioned parenting!'

At first until I checked out the videos I honestly thought it couldn't be that bad. I was horribly wrong. Some of the videos are entitled:
Dad burns Cody's Pokemon cards
Dad destroys son's DS
Dad forces son to throw away his toys
I'm sending Cody to military school

In their most recent video, because Cody had been bad (smeared poop on the walls; a recognised sign of abuse and distress), they took all the other kids to DisneyLand.

These videos are horrific, and despite them being located in the US, I really feel like CPS should be investigating and YouTube should shut the channel down for child abuse.

If you can bear to watch the videos, the guy's name is DaddyOFive, and I'd urge you to take a few minutes and report their videos for child abuse. I really don't understand how in this day and age, this kind of thing isn't investigated more quickly. The child is sobbing, and regularly in horrendous distress at the bullying at the hands of his parents and siblings, so these videos could trigger people; that's why I haven't directly linked them and why I've placed a warning on the top of my post.

Well if him and his twat of a wife see this.

You are both despicable cunts!

JessKM · 18/04/2017 23:31

They could use the money for the future therapy needs of their children. Or put it towards a lawyer for an upcoming custody battle maybe.... just suggestions

I don't understand how DiFranco gets all this love for destroying a happy family and destroying our way of life

SaveMeBarry · 18/04/2017 23:33

Also if he is being tweeted or emailed these "threats" why the hell is he sharing them with his children?? They arent public so he must be showing them to them!

Exactly what I was thinking. Mind you we can hardly be shocked, we know causing upset to their children is something they usually revel in.

But hey! Maybe the threats are just people pranking them. Which it's been established is always hilarious. Even when it's totally not...

TaliZorahVasNormandy · 18/04/2017 23:33

Aint nowt happy about that family.

TaliZorahVasNormandy · 18/04/2017 23:34

Berry, its funny they can give it out but dont like it coming back.

What goes around, comes around.

JessKM · 18/04/2017 23:34

GOD i love the mumsnetters with pitchforks - we get SHIT done!

Codename82 · 18/04/2017 23:35

It seems they've taken down the "Invisible Ink Prank" video which is the one that seemed to have made it all kick off.

JessKM · 18/04/2017 23:36

No worries code some of us may have saved it, just in case Wink

JessKM · 18/04/2017 23:37

Pitchforks and gin - now THERES a gift worth keeping!!!

Megbert · 18/04/2017 23:40

It's not just MN it has blown up all over the internet over the past few days.

Thankfully the world is now paying attention to this situation and the reaction has really scared the shit out of these fuckers.

Ollivander84 · 18/04/2017 23:41

I don't have DC but that video upthread Sad
It just seems chaotic, screaming and swearing and shoving. How is that in any way normal?!
The invisible ink prank - maybe if it had been a gentle one like a parent spilling it on the carpet and the child being ShockShock at it in an average household. But that was horrendous. How can you scream and swear at your child like that?

Codename82 · 18/04/2017 23:42

Just watch todays Philip DeFranco show and he said the tablet destruction video (the one where Cody gets pushed face first into a shelf by his dad) has been removed by YouTube for violating guidelines.

TaliZorahVasNormandy · 18/04/2017 23:44

I've pranked my DD many times, but it normally involves me jumping out behind doors at her and hiding things to see if she notices. Harmless things that she always finds funny.

What they were doing is engineering a situation in which they could scream and yell at the kids.

JessKM · 18/04/2017 23:50

If y'all aren't on Twitter you're missing a treat! There's some great conversations around him! Just search his name

SaveMeBarry · 18/04/2017 23:52

I'm not going to get too excited about the attention it's all suddenly receiving tbh. People find it easy to kick off on social media and believe they're Getting Something Done About It but really this is something the appropriate authorities need to get involved in.

I hate to say it but I won't be surprised if they go quiet for a little while and then resurface having suddenly seen the light, repented their sins and reformed. Probably take about a week.

America in particular seems to love it when people "turn over a new leaf", provided it's done publicly of course - must entertain the masses after all. They'll probably have a fucking reality tv show soon.

XsaraHale · 18/04/2017 23:52

Thank you for the email, will definitely report and report the video as abuse to demonetise it.
Absolutely horrifying that so many people are watching this for entertainment purposes! Hopefully Daily Fail pick up this from MN and expose the vile father for the bully he is.

Pray the poor boy is 'rescued' soon.

HalfShellHero · 18/04/2017 23:53

I've reported 2 videos ...I may share an article on fb to raise awareness about this evil shit! Angry

JessKM · 18/04/2017 23:54

Yes berry that's why multiple people here have reported this directly to their local safeguarding authority, who are duty bound to investigate any claim made in writing to them. You can join them, the email is repeated multiple times in the thread. A lot of other platforms are talking about it, I doubt many other platforms are officially reporting

JessKM · 18/04/2017 23:56

I wonder if this mr defranco - excuse my ignorance I don't know who or what he does is probably receiving a lot of negative attention too from similar asshole fans of this guy, when he's done nothing wrong

Megbert · 18/04/2017 23:57

They will be crying about being misunderstood on Dr Phil soon enough.

That show runs on this sick stuff.

HalfShellHero · 18/04/2017 23:58
