This is really hard as I have 2 extremes, one would be a lovely cottage by the sea, enough room for me to have a really comfy sofa I can sleep on with open fire. It would have a room that would be dedicated to books, plus other hobbies. I wouldn't need a fancy kitchen, just something basic, maybe a few rooms so I could say to stressed out MN'ers, have a holiday free on me.
The other side of the spectrum would be a Stately Home like place, so it would have a superb library, a room downstairs again similar to the smaller house, or perhaps a big room where the walls were lined with book cases, one end I'd have cupboards with hobby related things, plus a fire, a comfy sofa, other matching chairs so like minded people could share my company if they wished. Again the rest of the house would be grand, but I'd let people stay for free if they wanted a break, some may even choose to live there. They could organise between themselves what was for dinner as I get fed through my stomach, so don't have need for food, just nice beverages.
The gardens would be beautiful and accessible, I would have someone who loved horticulture to tend to this, also tenant Farmers who paid no fee. It would be like a co-operative where everyone helped one another.
Jolting back to earth there's a third option which is very real, since I'm separating from hubby. It's really nice, I really hope my wishes come true and I'm able to negotiate the place I've fallen in love with.
I sleep downstairs, so would have little use of a big property, but I love the idea of a co-op where I helped others, by return they would seek to help others.
I'll have a mooch on Rightmove and see if I can find examples of both.
Realistically I'm just looking for somewhere in scenario 3 where DC have access to nice rooms, I have room for bookcases and cupboards to keep stuff in. I'm waiting on finding out if what I've found is viable to be made more accessible.
