Rainydayspending · 16/04/2017 13:21

AIBU. I don't want to marry. Father did quite well with his business so they were able to afford a wonderful education and even travel. There are two suitors. Both have made it clear they don't want to leave England (well one will inherit some land in Scotland which is very fashionable but hardly an adventure). But to stay in england. Forever? Wib ungrateful to refuse them both?

I'm off to a meeting of the new Women's Franchise League tonight, DH says that I am not to go but I have rights too. Should I LTB?

Asmoto · 16/04/2017 13:25

I'm planning a dinner party, as my husband hopes it will help advance our position in good society. After consultation with my housekeeper, we agreed a simple, ten course menu - but my husband fears this will make us seem ungenerous, and wants fourteen courses. Who, pray, is BU?

StorminaBcup · 16/04/2017 13:26

IAmAmy · 16/04/2017 13:28

My friend keeps posting me her selfie portraits. AIBU to not be interested?

ghostyslovesheets · 16/04/2017 13:30

My neighbour has purchased a large tree which she has placed in her front parlor and decorated with candles - AIBU to think that this imported German tat will ruin Christmastide :(

Toadinthehole · 16/04/2017 13:32

AIBU to use my bloomers to boil my suet pudding?

Asmoto · 16/04/2017 13:32

I want to replace our oil lamps and candles with those new gas lights that are becoming popular, but I worry they might be a fire risk. Has anyone else replaced their lights? Is it worth the expense?

Pinkandwhiteblossoms · 16/04/2017 13:33

Day out recommendations - public hanging or a visit to Bedlam?

TroysMammy · 16/04/2017 13:34

I think my dd has ricketts. A&E or the workhouse?

Asmoto · 16/04/2017 13:35

Is five years old too young to begin training my daughter's waist? Any recommendations for a first corset?

Toadinthehole · 16/04/2017 13:37

(Sonsnet)

I woke this morning with a cockstand. Does this mean I'm going to go blind? Mr Pivvins the schoolmaster thrashed my friend Billy just for saying that word.

MotherofPearl · 16/04/2017 13:38

Just wondering what a normal number of baths is? I think once a year in the tin bath by the fire is plenty; DP thinks once every alternate year is ample. WIBU?

SittingAround1 · 16/04/2017 13:39

AIBU, I contradicted my DH in the presence of company during afternoon tea yesterday. He spoke of the clement weather which is apparently imminent. I merely proclaimed that I thought the cold would last a bit longer.
He is now no longer speaking to me after declaring it is very unbecoming of a lady of my standing to behave in this manner in society.
I tried to appeal to his good senses by declaring it was only the vicar and his wife but to no avail.
What should I do?

Moussemoose · 16/04/2017 13:39

Up in 't north we 'aven't got time for all yer nonsense.
In 't mill for 12 hours a day. Sparking cloggs on cobblestones.

Off out now where's mi shawl?

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 16/04/2017 13:40

AIBU to consider having a third rib removed? As a result of having the first two surgically excised, I now have a 12" waist and can lace my corsets to a most satisfying degree of tightness. However, my ultimate goal is 10". Is the extra 2" worth the expense? My surgeon assures me that he washes his hands at the start of each day and has a clean towel once a week, so if there is any truth in this newfangled idea that germs have something to do with dirt I should be quite safe.

Elendon · 16/04/2017 13:40

Should I place my psychotic child, who is almost 2, in an institution? He barely speaks and has no real connection to us and chews everything in sight. I fear he may taint my other children.

He clearly is beyond help.

Chinnygirl · 16/04/2017 13:42

How dare you all mumsnet on a sunday! Go read your bible or embroider a cross.

Cherrysoup · 16/04/2017 13:42

I've just been almost run down by a group of gentlemen on horses! I fear they mistook the railing to which I was handcuffed for a jump!

Chinnygirl · 16/04/2017 13:44

I've been feeling poorly the last week, should I ask the doctor for a bloodletting?

Tattsyrup · 16/04/2017 13:44

AIBU to not want a thirteenth child?

Asmoto · 16/04/2017 13:44

sitting YABU - for shame! Contradicting the master of the house in the presence of a Man of God - how can you expect to show your face in good society again? You must retire immediately to a convent and do penance for your effrontery.

hareinthemoon · 16/04/2017 13:48

I've recently married DH after a whirlwind romance and moved with him to London. I don't know anybody here and I'm starting to think he is carrying on with the maid. That's not the worst of it though. I've recently lost a brooch that I knew was safe in my bag; and DH says I keep moving a picture from the wall and hiding it. I can't remember anything about it. DH says I'm stealing things as well! I keep hearing footsteps in the attic and the lights in the walls go up and down as if someone is playing with the gas. Please help me, I think I'm going mad Sad
