AIBU to be severley pee'd off with the minister of the church and another 6 people playing brass instruments outside the church at 6am this morning!!
Myself and 2 Dc (7&10) stayed with my partner last night and the kids sleep in the room right next to the church car park. Me and my partner were woken with a bloody shock when this music started...it was so loud!! Youngest DC woke up with a fright crying so I went out and asked what they were doing (I thought law was 11pm-7am for noise etc...didnt think the church would be exempt!) and was told its easter sunday we will only be 15mins or so!!😠😠
I understand its easter sunday but come on...there still has to be some respect or pre warning that they were doing this. My kids have got a busy day with family and they are going to be tired and cranky, as none of us got anymore sleep, through no fault of there own.

Im so tempted to complain to the church!

.......and breath!! 😂

What do you expect?
Erm, not a brass band outside maybe?
I've always ended up living by a church ( im currently by 2!) and neither decided to have a brass band this morning Confused
They could have given some warning
Yeah a church service on Easter Sunday - who'd of thought

Again, not all people would expect a brass band, which is op's point Confused
I don't care about bells but i'd have been pissed at been woken up by this.
Why would the op have gone to the church to see any notices about it?
If she'd never known them to do it, why would she go to look.
NabobsFromNobHill i thought noise times were under one of the acts?
Obv op couldn't complain if it was a one off, but if the church did it regulary she could.

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 17/04/2017 05:02

If that was a group of young teens playing booming music at that time or anytime really. They'd be dragged over the coals.

picklemepopcorn · 17/04/2017 05:53

I wouldn't be impressed but actually it's no worse than fireworks, is it?

tinypop4 · 17/04/2017 06:38

Surprised anyone thinks this is reasonable. If a day break service is their thing fine, but does it need to be a brass band?! Possibly the loudest ensemble they could have picked. the music could have waited a bit.

OvariesForgotHerPassword · 17/04/2017 06:55

If it was neighbours having a one-off party or teenagers being daft they'd be torn to shreds but because it's the church they can do whatever the fuck they like.

OP maybe you could convert to a new religion where your method of worshipping is playing death metal at full blast outside the church during Sunday morning service? Apparently if you say bullshit like "alleluia" and "he is risen" while you're doing it, it's fine.

People are being facetious and implying that the OP is worked up about the church or the dawn service. Um no I'm guessing it's the brass band at 6am that's got her back up.

Devilishpyjamas · 17/04/2017 06:59

A night worker would still be up at 6am????

Don't move into the centre of Oxford on May Day - the entire city is up at dawn

Devilishpyjamas · 17/04/2017 07:01

Here you go - your choice of noisy dawn activity

eurochick · 17/04/2017 07:03

Who lets off fireworks at 6am on Easter Sunday?

SuperBeagle · 17/04/2017 07:05

Wouldn't have bothered me, but I'm awake well and truly by that time anyway.

But I suppose this is akin to me being pissed off when my neighbours used to play thudding music at 8pm. Grin

Scholes34 · 17/04/2017 07:13

Whilst it's somewhat unreasonable to strike up a band at 6.00 am, OP is being rather OTT about the whole thing. She's admitted that her DC have been up at 6.00 am throughout the holiday, so timings are routine for them and they're hardly likely to be tired and cranky as a result. I hope your 7 year old is recovering okay from the shock of it all.

coconuttella · 17/04/2017 07:28

YANBU.... Just because they wish to celebrate Easter Day by getting up extremely early does not mean they should wake up the neighbourhood. It's selfish and anti-social. If I was the vicar I'd not permit a brass band inside the church at that time, let alone outside it! By all means have a dawn service on Easter Day, but a service does not require music, let alone loud music!

coconuttella · 17/04/2017 07:30

I wouldn't be impressed but actually it's no worse than fireworks, is it?

No, but letting off fireworks at 6am would be just as unreasonable. Is this actually a thing?

ErrolTheDragon · 17/04/2017 09:14

Two wrongs make a right isn't written anywhere in the Bible.

No loud bell-ends when people are sleeping, please.

picklemepopcorn · 17/04/2017 09:36

People seem to accept late night fireworks which wake people up, though, 'because it's Chinese New Year/divali/bonfire night/new year'. I'm not sure brass band at 6am 'because it's easter' is very different.

I would prefer neither- but brass band at 6am probably less disruptive to me personally than fireworks at midnight.

I'm always surprised how many people are ok with fireworks. If anyone complains they are called a kill joy.

picklemepopcorn · 17/04/2017 09:38

And if I could trade the brass band once a year for the motorbike which shakes the windows as it goes past several times a day, I gladly would!

DevelopingDetritus · 17/04/2017 09:42

I've got the builders next door today, Bank Holiday Monday. Hmm

user1489261248 · 17/04/2017 09:46

That is way too early. Especially on Easter Sunday when people are probably hoping for a lie in. I would complain to the Vicar to ensure it doesn't happen again. 9.30am would have been a much more appropriate time for this.

ErrolTheDragon · 17/04/2017 09:50

Ah, well I don't think fireworks are ok either, except on Nov 5th or adjacent weekend, at an hour when the kids can see them, rather than after bedtime. And maybe a few other celebrations like Diwali, during the early evening not the middle of the night.

I'd ban noisy motorbikes if I could too, at any hour - a few twattish MAMILs spoiling the peace of swathes of countryside on a weekend. If a car can get around at high speed without all that row, I can't believe a quieter motorbike is impossible. However, thats obviously way OT.Grin

EduCated · 17/04/2017 09:52

There's still a general level of expectation that bonfire night/NYE/Diwali/Chinese New Year = fireworks though.

This is the first I've ever heard of Easter = a brass band at 6am.

user1489261248 · 17/04/2017 10:16

Detriuis, I feel your pain. We have had builders next door for about a month. Knocking and banging every weekday evening from 5 til 9pm, and every weekend from 8am til 6pm ish. We have also had them all over Easter. Good Friday, Easter Saturday, Easter Sunday, and today; bank holiday And the banging and knocking has been starting at 7.30 to 7.45am on every one of those mornings!

There are new people moving in and they are paying a mate of theirs to do loads of work, and he works for the council, and so has to do it outside of work hours.

I don't know what kind of inconsiderate cunt does this over the Easter break, but I wish I knew where the builder lived, so I could go and bang on his door at 6am every Saturday and Sunday morning for a month, and the next 3 or 4 bank holidays!

DevelopingDetritus · 17/04/2017 10:49

Such a grind isn't it, yours been so prolonged too. These builders are drilling, it's so high pitched if I don't have a headache by the end of the day it'll be a miracle. This is a national company too. They sent a letter to warn but still Bank Holiday Monday! I'm usually working on the Bank Holidays but got it off, trying to relax, might have had a nap today but no chance of that! Angry

kali110 · 17/04/2017 11:23

Wow really nice to see all the comments pa comments about op's kids Hmm

OvariesForgotHerPassword agree with you, and posters certainly wouldn't be taking the piss out of her kids if it wasn't about a church Confused

NabobsFromNobHill · 17/04/2017 11:57

NabobsFromNobHill i thought noise times were under one of the acts?

Certain types of noise, but there is no general law on all noise in all places from all people, and none that would specifically cover this.

kali110 · 17/04/2017 14:15

NabobsFromNobHill really? I thought hey had certain times too ( problem neighbours) we checked the gov website?

NabobsFromNobHill · 17/04/2017 14:16

Who is "they"? There are no noise laws that cover everyone in all circumstances.
