AIBU to be severley pee'd off with the minister of the church and another 6 people playing brass instruments outside the church at 6am this morning!!
Myself and 2 Dc (7&10) stayed with my partner last night and the kids sleep in the room right next to the church car park. Me and my partner were woken with a bloody shock when this music started...it was so loud!! Youngest DC woke up with a fright crying so I went out and asked what they were doing (I thought law was 11pm-7am for noise etc...didnt think the church would be exempt!) and was told its easter sunday we will only be 15mins or so!!😠😠
I understand its easter sunday but come on...there still has to be some respect or pre warning that they were doing this. My kids have got a busy day with family and they are going to be tired and cranky, as none of us got anymore sleep, through no fault of there own.

Im so tempted to complain to the church!

.......and breath!! 😂

A church would choose whatever music it likes. It is meant to be loud and triumphal - befitting the biggest day in the Christian calendar.

Tatiebee · 16/04/2017 09:20

YABU as it's Easter Sunday and you've chosen to live next to a Church.

HermioneJeanGranger · 16/04/2017 09:21

Easter Sunday or otherwise, a brass band at 6am is not appropriate! YANBU.

Maudlinmaud · 16/04/2017 09:21

Just back from mass, no brass bands where used.

lalalalyra · 16/04/2017 09:23

The daybreak service here involves ringing of the bells at Easter.

I find it quite amusing when people choose to love next to somewhere then complain. Our new neighbour does that.

If your BF has lived there for more than a year he's the one you should be pulling up for not telling you about it.

HeyRoly · 16/04/2017 09:24

6am? The fuck?

I've never heard of a daybreak service (well, I'm an atheist) but surely the considerate thing to do would be think about the neighbours who won't want to be woken with a frigging brass band at stupid o'clock on a weekend?

Cant believe all these people saying YABU Hmm

ASDismynormality · 16/04/2017 09:24

YANBU, it's really disprectful waking the neighbours of the church like that. They should at least have giving prior warning.

BigSandyBalls2015 · 16/04/2017 09:25

I'm surprised your 7 year old and 10 year old would be massively affected by a one off 6am start, particularly as they've presumably had a week off school already, at least?

Emphasise · 16/04/2017 09:25

I go to a church famous for its brass band. Never played at 6am outdoors though. Churches usually like to be friends with their neighbours

Shockers · 16/04/2017 09:26

It's one day, and the most important in the Christian calendar. I don't go to church, but I'd be happy for those that did.

FannyWisdom · 16/04/2017 09:26

Prior warning? They did 'bout 2000 years ago Grin

ErrolTheDragon · 16/04/2017 09:27

A daybreak service - fine. A brass band? Completely inconsiderate and entitled behaviour.

Leaving aside the sheer antisocialness of it, wouldn't a quiet service, with the music provided by the dawn chorus have been much nicer, and more in keeping with the Easter story? The 'third day' began quietly, with the women going to the tomb, meeting the 'gardener' .... no brash brassy fanfare.

SilverdaleGlen · 16/04/2017 09:27

It's one day a year. Give it a rest.

NashvilleQueen · 16/04/2017 09:28

I don't go to church but am an early riser and love brass bands. I'd be quite joyful (and would prob cry as brass bands always have that affect on me). But I appreciate if you were hoping for a bit of a lie in that's a bit of a shock to the system.

CantChoose · 16/04/2017 09:29

Every Sunday morning at 6am would be unreasonable.
It's a normal service for Easter Sunday though. The brass band is possibly a bit much. But if it's only once a year I'd let it go.

bugattiveyron · 16/04/2017 09:30

It's normal to have a 6am service on Easter Sunday but most parishes try to be sensitive - there are several churches in this parish and the Easter Sunday service is held in a rural church surrounded by fields so it doesn't disturb anybody; in any case it's a very quiet service with no bells or music - it's outdoors around a bonfire.

I'm an atheist so I ignore Easter but even if I was religious I'd think that YANBU.

insancerre · 16/04/2017 09:30

How long has your dp lived there?
Have they not heard it before?

Kittyguilt · 16/04/2017 09:31

YANBU

6am? Why are they trying to do? Resurrect the dead?! Wink

Saucery · 16/04/2017 09:32

A brass band is indeed A Bit Much, but dawn service to be expected.
NashvilleQueen me too! It can get embarrassing if I am surprised by a brass band.

ErrolTheDragon · 16/04/2017 09:33

Give it a rest.

That's what the OP and her family wanted. Sunday is, according to Christians, a day of rest.

The two commandments of Jesus are to love god, and** love your neighbour as yourself. Disturbing the peace at 6am on a 'day of rest' seems to be failing the latter. Is your god really impressed by loud noises more than consideration for your fellow people?

HermioneJeanGranger · 16/04/2017 09:33

Why should the OP just get over it?

There are laws about antisocial noise before 7am - or is the Church exempt from that? Hmm

Bantanddec · 16/04/2017 09:34

It's payback for all the times they got you up early mwahaha Grin

MrsBertBibby · 16/04/2017 09:35

Send the vicar a dawn brass band for his birthday.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 16/04/2017 09:36

I'm all for a dawn service, it's a wonderfully special day for Christians. But a brass band? that's crackers!

AwaywiththePixies27 · 16/04/2017 09:37

YDNBU. I don't care if it's a special religious time for christians. Brass bands at 6am on a Sunday is ridiculous.

Do you live by my DM by any chance? The church near her was practising Christmas service until 1am in the morning. Drums the lot. Hmm
