AIBU to be severley pee'd off with the minister of the church and another 6 people playing brass instruments outside the church at 6am this morning!!
Myself and 2 Dc (7&10) stayed with my partner last night and the kids sleep in the room right next to the church car park. Me and my partner were woken with a bloody shock when this music started...it was so loud!! Youngest DC woke up with a fright crying so I went out and asked what they were doing (I thought law was 11pm-7am for noise etc...didnt think the church would be exempt!) and was told its easter sunday we will only be 15mins or so!!😠😠
I understand its easter sunday but come on...there still has to be some respect or pre warning that they were doing this. My kids have got a busy day with family and they are going to be tired and cranky, as none of us got anymore sleep, through no fault of there own.

Im so tempted to complain to the church!

.......and breath!! 😂

Hallelujah, He is risen!
I wish our local lot would be this enthusiastic!
YANBU to be irritated., but it's once a year, for 15 mins!

MatildaTheCat · 16/04/2017 10:14

My friend lives next door to a large Catholic Church and finds it quite a trial at times. Noisy kids charging around, inconsiderate parking and all sorts but it's pretty much just part of choosing a house in that location.

Has your 7 year old begun to recover yet?

AwaywiththePixies27 · 16/04/2017 10:14

4267sparkles I think you should take up a PPs suggestion of sending the vicar a 6am brass band for their birthday.

After all it's only once a year right? He/She won't mind Grin

BillSykesDog · 16/04/2017 10:16

YABU, our local church is holding an all night vigil and has been ringing it's bells all night. It's only one night.

Thank your lucky stars you weren't there when Diana died, a lot of churches rang their bells constantly for a week.

Nanny0gg · 16/04/2017 10:18

If you live near a church, you need to get used to the noises of normal church activists. This is one of them.

Not for my church it isn't.

Craiconwithit · 16/04/2017 10:18

YANBU. I can't stand religious show offs. I'd have gone round and complained about the racket and pointed out that they're breaking the law.

LadyPW · 16/04/2017 10:21

Early service - no problem. Church bells - glorious. Brass band at 6am outside in residential area - nope. Fairly sure the Bible does NOT mention a brass band playing at any point around that whole episode so it's not a vital part of the Easter Sunday service.

DonkeyOaty · 16/04/2017 10:31

Brass ensemble, surely?

Badcat666 · 16/04/2017 10:35

UABU.

A lot of devout Christians observe staying awake throughout the night before Easter and the brass band was most probably celebrating the dawn of their religous celebrations.

Maybe a brass band AT the church itself was thought to be less disturbing than bells which can carry for miles and miles.

If someone lives right by a church and you stay there the night before a big highlight of their religous calendar then expect some bloody noise!!

I don't believe in any god or religion but if I was to stay by any religious building the night before a big event I'd expect to be woken up at stupid o'clock.

The world doesn't evolve around you I'm afraid.

HeyRoly · 16/04/2017 10:36

religious show offs

That's exactly it! I mean, church bells ringing all night, I'd lose my bloody mind Grin

Moussemoose · 16/04/2017 10:37

The most important day in the Christian calander and the house is next to a church. What do you expect?

ErrolTheDragon · 16/04/2017 10:44

What do you expect?

'Love thy neighbour'?

StillDrivingMeBonkers · 16/04/2017 10:46

Harsh but, you don't live there, find a hotel next time.

AmysTiara · 16/04/2017 10:48

YANBU that time of day is ridiculous.

coldcanary · 16/04/2017 10:51

Maybe a warning to local residents would have been a good idea, notes through the doors of people living closest to the church or something. It might have been going on for years but anyone who had moved in since last Easter wouldn't know about it.

Maudlinmaud · 16/04/2017 10:53

Can't post links but could I draw your attention to Clonard angry man on youtube. Now if you where that fellow you really would have cause to complain. Bless him.

QuinionsRainbow · 16/04/2017 11:08

Lifetime practising Christian here. Never heard of a daybreak Easter service!

Moussemoose · 16/04/2017 11:14

ErrolTheDragon

What do you expect?

'Love thy neighbour'?

Well a practicing Christian would say bringing God's message of hope is, in fact, loving thy neighbour.

Willow2017 · 16/04/2017 11:23

Yanbu.

I used to be religious and i cant remember any part ofthe easter story that said
' And lo when the disciples found the tomb empty they went henceforth and got many brass instruments and made an bloody noise to celebrate'

The start of Easter sunday was quiet and respectful not showy and noisy. Church people should have to obey the law too. I would have been mightily peed off.

Oh and if I get woken suddenly and get a fright i cry! So I would have been doubly mad.

CarSeeker · 16/04/2017 11:24

At least he doesn't live next to a mosque, OP - the azhan for morning prayer goes out a lot earlier than 6am, and is a lot louder Grin

ErrolTheDragon · 16/04/2017 11:30

Well a practicing Christian would say bringing God's message of hope is, in fact, loving thy neighbour.

Indeed. However, that's really not what this group were doing. Upsetting your neighbours isn't good witness, is it? There doesn't seem to have been any sort of outreach involved.

Moussemoose · 16/04/2017 11:34

The music and the message is the outreach.
You hear it and know Christ has risen! Alleluia!

Now, don't get me wrong I am in bed having had a nice lie in. But if you choose to live near a place of worship you will inevitability hear - worship.
What do you expect?

Runny · 16/04/2017 11:48

My DM grew up going to church, I had a very religious grandmother, and she's never heard of this! I suppose I can see the significance of a daybreak service, but a brass band at 6am is ludicrous. Couldn't they just sing a few hymns or something?

Are they one of these happy clappy Evagneglical praise the Lord type churches? DM is CofE.

FannyWisdom · 16/04/2017 11:54

I'm guessing at ex pit church, full throttle, Morning has Broken.

I haven't been to church for years it's making me nostalgic for the 4pm buffet we earned by keeping lent

meditrina · 16/04/2017 11:56

"God goes up with shouts of joy; the Lord goes up with trumpet blast."
(psalm 46)

Though that's usually Ascension Day
