Clare's Law application

Would you do it if you found out someone you were dating had lied about their past (small lie), and been removed from the GMC register potentially (as in complete erasure and there is no longer any record of them at all)? Of course it's possible they were never on it in the first place.

Can't decide if I am being batshit crazy, I should just walk away for even thinking this, or I should make the application?

Is it the same man as the other posted asked about?!

longlostpal · 15/04/2017 19:46

I think it's worth checking his story and checking with the GMC what should have happened. No point dumping him if e.g. he only got to F1 and it turns out that the GMC don't keep doctors who never fully qualified on the register (even if they are registered during the F1/F2 period). Also don't discount the possibility of a simply mistake. My solicitor friend found out when she wrote me a character reference that she didn't appear on the SRA register of solicitors. It was a clerical error that was sorted out with a quick phone call.

I'm sorry op hope you are okay and didn't waste too much time on someone who clearly doesn't deserve you x

cailyaclara · 15/04/2017 21:21

I was about to write some suggestions of what to look for, but I've just read your post saying that he's now backtracking.
Oh dear :( LTB, sweetie. That's quite a big (rather odd) lie xxx

Beebeeeight · 15/04/2017 21:23

It's there to be used.

You have nothing to lose.

yousignup · 15/04/2017 21:51

OP if there's a slight possibility we are talking about the same person, then please let me know.
Even if it isn't, I am sorry. People lie about the most ridiculous things and never expect to be found out.

Krispiesquare · 15/04/2017 22:16

I'm confused by this

Is he lying about being a doctor or lying about the gravity of his crime?

Krispiesquare · 15/04/2017 22:32

Also Cosmo, are you safe ATM?

Just read your thread in chat about SMP, MA

CosmoKlit · 15/04/2017 22:35

He lied about being a doctor.

Yes, I'm safe. This happened early on in our relationship so it's all good.

Yousignup I sent you a message earlier. May be the same person? Thought it best to discuss in person

Thank you very much everyone for the input. I really did feel like a bit of a wally posting but was unsure what to do (and as it turns out I was unsure how the GMC register works).

Good luck going forward

Well done for following your instincts Flowers

Gingernaut · 15/04/2017 22:52

To quote a H&S guy I once worked with

"There's no such thing as a stupid question."

Well played, OP. Good luck.

yousignup · 15/04/2017 22:58

No it's not the same man! Which unfortunately means there are two of them out there...

spectacularvelvet · 16/04/2017 20:22

Yousignup I've met the man you are talking about ... name like a car?

yousignup · 19/04/2017 10:53

A car? No, not a car... first initial is M. First name has 4 letters. Unless he's got a false identity. Wouldn't put it past him.
