I keep hearing people say this and it really annoys me! This is not Half term. This is the Eater holidays.

Gileswithachainsaw · 14/04/2017 22:55

Tbh with the kids off for two weeks you really should be too drunk to give a shit what anyone calls it Wink

Splinters6 · 14/04/2017 22:55

Grin @ your funny typo.

But unless you mean it upsets you because you're religious then I'm not sure why the mistake bothers you. Confused
Personally, I'd like to see it rebranded as spring break and be the same 2wks every year.

WorraLiberty · 14/04/2017 22:57

Oh god no, not spring break.

Everyone will end up eating corn dogs and drinking soda...

Gileswithachainsaw · 14/04/2017 22:58

And that's bad because???Grin

Livnatmum · 14/04/2017 22:59

It's always first two weeks in April here.

LemonRedwood · 14/04/2017 22:59

Thread deja vu

Eater holidays Grin Grin Grin

Thegiantofillinois · 14/04/2017 23:01

Same 2 weeks in my work county. Flip a coin where I live and where kids go to school. I'm generally so knackered and confused I call it everything:xmas, half term, end of term, revision sessions, next week. My main issue is remembering which one of us is meant to be in school and when.

frasersmummy · 14/04/2017 23:01

Well in our area they have set this holiday as the 1st 2 weeks in April no matter when Easter falls so.sometimes it really just is half term

Thegiantofillinois · 14/04/2017 23:02

And I still forgot to buy Easter Eggs, stupidly thinking there would be loads in the shops on Saturday.

Asmoto · 14/04/2017 23:02

This has been annoying me at work, and I don't even have children or any relatives who work in education. It seems to have become a thing.

MamOfTwo · 14/04/2017 23:03

You are not alone, OP. There was a thread on this very subject recently!

ThePinkOcelot · 14/04/2017 23:04

Maybe try and get out more??!!

Ceto · 14/04/2017 23:08

How can it be half term when it's between two separate terms? It's obviously the school holidays.

BackforGood · 14/04/2017 23:15

It can't be half term though, as it is at the end of one full term and/or the beginning of the next term.
Half terms can surely only fall half way through a term (ie Oct / Feb / June)

CocoLoco87 · 14/04/2017 23:19

Calling it half term annoys me because it's between terms. Half term breaks are (generally) in Oct, Feb and May/June. These 2 weeks are the Easter holiday!

Thegiantofillinois · 14/04/2017 23:24

Thing is, it doesn't feel like the end of term cos you're bsng in the middle of revision and stuff. May feels more like the end of term cos exams have started and it's in the lap of the gods then.

HeddaGarbled · 14/04/2017 23:27

YABU

JakeBallardswife · 14/04/2017 23:32

It is the Eater hols, soon it'll be the Egg hols! In my county we call it Easter Grin

LifeOfBriony · 14/04/2017 23:33

YANBU. It is not half term, which falls half way through a term.

LemonRedwood · 14/04/2017 23:55

Oh god, trust me, it feels like the end of term primary teacher, back on Tuesday

AntiHop · 14/04/2017 23:57

Yanbu! Gets on my nerves.
