Exercise and showering

Aibu (pretty sure I'm not but am being treated as if I've asked him to fly to the moon and fetch me some moon cheese) to expect dh to have a shower after a three hour mountain treck, before getting in to bed?

I was once told by a male colleague that hardly anyone showered after going to the (in house) gym at lunchtime. Apparently, they used to use the hand dryers to dry the sweat off.

I always jump in the shower after exercising, DP will come back from playing football & lounge on the settee or fanny about in the kitchen stinking the place out, I always yell at him to go for a shower straight away. Getting in bed stinking would be a deal breaker for me!

Gross. I did a 5k at 7am this morning and had to sit with the kids for 20 mins while they had breakfast before I showered and that was plenty long enough. I was stinking.

But anyway, can't believe he doesn't want to!? A hot shower when you're all sweaty is the best!

I'm definitely at the lax end of MN hygiene standards, but even I have a minimum of a body shower after sweaty exercise. (Hair washing not always practical due to long hair)

Jesus it's just sweat. Does your dh not ocassionally sweat during intercourse! Not to mention other fluids that will get on rhe bed sheets.

Ummm it's not just sweat though is it?

It's stale sweat that has had hours and hours for bacteria to feast on it and create a stink....and be beautifully absorbed into the bed clothes - yuck.

This really made me giggle and also made me grateful my place of work doesn't have a gym. Although one guy cycles in and doesn't shower because they are miles away (same site but at least a 10 minute walk) maybe he uses this technique.

It's rank. It smells hideous and it seeps into the bed clothes, and makes the room stink.

Oh, I couldn't get into bed all sweaty and grubby.

Surely most adults shower before bed anyway after a day at the office, commuting, having a poo etc . Especially if they expect conjugal rights.

I never shower before bed unless I've done something particularly sweaty/dirty.

I shower/bathe when I need to.

I might go 3 days showering in a row.

Then I might not for 3 days.

It depends what I've been doing.

I only wash my hair once a week.

I think male sweat is rather sexy. All those pheromones knocking around. But then I'm aware from reading MN that I am most definitely not a clean freak!

Oh Supermoon, have you never been with someone who's done some proper hard exercise, or done some yourself? That kind of sweat is not the same as sex sweat, it really does stink. I do like my husband's normal sweaty smell, but when he's been for an hour's run he smells rank, as do I after my long runs.
