Now this isn't really the most serious post as I pretty much admit I'm being dreadfully dramatic, but AIBU to be a totally unintentional food snob - Turned my nose up at a canned spaghetti toasted sandwhich the other day and it got me thinking that I may be one of 'those' people with haughty food opinions. I do the whole 'no mass produced babyfood' thing, the 'how dare you' response to caged/cruelty meat, and have a toddler known to cry for truffle tortellini.

Anyone else suffering this affliction want to share their stories - it may make me feel less like a terrible person!

No processed food tastes as good as it used to do because they put a lot less salt and additives in it than they did in the 1970/80s.

I've been disappointed by Pot Noodles, tinned macaroni cheese, crispy pancakes, McDonalds chicken nuggets, all sorts of stuff and it's not because I'm a snobby food snob that only eats meat, fish, veg and salad.

The memory of the crappy foodstuff is often better than the real modern day deal.

The problem with all these foods is that they taste one way in your food bank memory but bloody vile when you try them again years later. I used to love sandwich spread sandwiches as a kid. Tried it as an adult and honestly it was so revolting. Like just watered sugar with flaccid bit of carrot.

I know I'm going to be horribly disappointed.

I didn't even eat food like that as a little kid. My family was all whole foods knit-your-own-lentils. I was hugely jealous of kids who had white bread and processed foods at home. I used to buy crispy pancakes with my pocket money.

You haven't missed out! All those foods were terrible when I was young.

I'm no food snob bad food is just bad food. My toddlers have only ever cried over having lettuce instead of spinach in their salads or just the "all gone".

I have tinned spaghetti in toasties and I'm not even ashamed with loads of cheese and a dash of hot pepper sauce.

Harrods egg mayonnaise sandwiches are the food of the gods as the balance of the truffle oil is PERFECT. I dream about them.

I also thoroughly enjoy chicken supernoodles on buttered white toast.

I refuse to eat any pasta that comes out of a tin - I'm Italian, I don't want my passport taken away.
I make an exception for those sachets of camping pasta if actually camping.

DS and I went to visit my parents the other week so DH bought himself a giant bag of freezer tater tots.

The next time I did the food shop I retaleated (sp??) by buying industrial quantities of fresh veg and a kg of strawberries
