Please think about what you're condoning.

www.independent.co.uk/voices/grand-national-races-animal-cruelty-get-rid-of-dangerous-jump-a7672131.html

"It’s time for the Grand National again – that curious time of year when people who claim to like horses gather to exploit them, often hurting and killing them in the process.

Since 2000, 48 horses have died at the annual festival that the National is part of. Others have suffered horribly with broken backs, necks or legs, severed tendons, or heart attacks. This is the reality of British horse racing."

If you use this as entertainment, the blood of murdered horses is on your hands as well.

Would you bet on a race where human beings fell and broke their legs or necks and had to be shot? At least they would have consented. Horses cannot consent to this life.

Would you be "fine" with it as long as it hadn't happened since 2012, despite horses dying after the race from their injuries since then?

Please don't be dazzled by the so-called glamour of this bloodsport.

As I have posted on a previous thread what do you suggest we do with all these racehorses ???? Set them free??? Wonder how that would be. Op you obviously have zero knowledge whipped to make them run!!!! Jeez oh get a grip!!!!

Verticalvenetianblinds · 08/04/2017 16:54

You go and ride a national hunt horse and try to stop it. Its in their nature, same as hunting for hounds.
And yabvu if you think they whip them to.force them

JacquesHammer · 08/04/2017 16:54

People don't like being lectured because nobody likes being told that they're doing something wrong. It's an uncomfortable feeling

But it is only wrong in your opinion. If in their opinion it isn't it doesn't make them uncomfortable. Just maybe a little bored or surprised that an adult feels their entitled to lecture.

Preachy horse abusers and meat eaters. My favourite.

If you love meat so much and don't care, why are you even replying? Just go back to your carcasses and carry on :)

Wando I'm vegan. So I don't do either.

PollytheDolly · 08/04/2017 16:55

As a horse owner, if they didn't want to get into the box to run, they wouldn't. There is absolutely no way you are getting horses of that size and power to run when they don't want to. Horses love their trainers, their owners and they also love working. *

Or they've never known different. That's the ones that make it that far. You're forgetting all the broken ones that get tossed to the wayside.

hhorvath · 08/04/2017 16:56

I don't know, maybe stop breeding the horses and dissolve the massive (money making) race horse industry? Or is that too complicated for you?

OP posts:
ComedyofTerrors · 08/04/2017 16:56

OP if you'd ever tried to force 500kg+ of horse to do something it doesn't want to you would realise just how ridiculous you sound.

JennyOnAPlate · 08/04/2017 16:56

100% agree with you op. I don't understand why it's still legal.

Verticalvenetianblinds · 08/04/2017 16:56

Also the racing industry is massive employer so if you want to go there and bitch about it I suppose you should also come up with an alternative for all of the horses and employees

BeeFarseer · 08/04/2017 16:56

Is no-one going to answer my question? Why don't other races get this sort of focus? What makes the Grand National particularly bad?

If you're aiming to educate, please start with me. I genuinely want to know. I grew up in Aintree so I'm very familiar with the Grand National.

OITNY · 08/04/2017 16:56

I've never thrown a broken one by the wayside and neither has any horse owner I've ever known Hmm retired race horses have a better life than I do!

Boy you're patronising aren't you?

What do you do with all the thousands of horses currently in the industry. Where do they go?

kingscrossnoodle · 08/04/2017 16:57

Preachy horse abusers and meat eaters. My favourite.

An offended MN'er that has no idea what she is raging about. My favourite.

hhorvath · 08/04/2017 16:57

I really don't give a shit about the employees who choose to work in this highly privileged area. They'll be fine.

OP posts:
JennyOnAPlate · 08/04/2017 16:57

Funnily enough comedy I don't think the horse is aware that it's risking its life.

Thattimeofyearagain · 08/04/2017 16:58

The Grand National is today. That's why it's being posted about today, funnily enough.

They'll be fine

Would you be if your entire industry was suddenly dismantled and you were made redundant.

To suggest an industry can be simply stopped is naive at best.

kingscrossnoodle · 08/04/2017 16:59

Is no-one going to answer my question? Why don't other races get this sort of focus? What makes the Grand National particularly bad. I also asked about this. People can't go preaching about such a massive subject and use one pissing race as their only point haha

Thattimeofyearagain · 08/04/2017 16:59

Aww, a preachy vegan who puts animal lives over humans. Full House !!

hhorvath · 08/04/2017 16:59

It can and should be stopped. Supporting things just because "it's how we've always done it" is a poor argument against progress.

The Grand National is today. That's why it's being posted about today, funnily enough. Great, but if you feel so passionately about raving why did you not post a week ago? A month ago? Six months back? About lol the races going on then!!
