Adults sucking lollypops....

Just NO.

AIBU?

Middle aged male visitor is sitting there right now, with DH in the kitchen. His DD I think has a pack of the things (I hate them anyway but kids I can forgive)

And he's sucking one.

He's making little "Shlep" noises when he takes it out again.

I'm so grossed out right now. This is a big grown man of 47.

an egg-cup here, a 99 there... but where does it end? Debauchery.

Quite. One day you're having an ice-cream cone, the next you're indulging in a lunchtime bacchanalian orgy.

MrsMeeseeks · 07/04/2017 12:35

They must bite it to be considered decent by me.

This is discrimination against the sensitive of tooth.

MackerelOfFact · 07/04/2017 12:36

I'd definitely be up for watching a soft-boiled-egg slicing tutorial!

MN currently have 'Easter egg hunt hacks - all the fun but none of the faff' as their featured video. I think MrsMeeseeks has just volunteered to do the follow-up 'Soft boiled egg hacks - all the faff but none of the fun!' Grin

JonesyAndTheSalad · 07/04/2017 12:36

Cheese it's honestly not meant to be mean or anything but I just feel disgusted by it. It's not something I can just stop. So I can't "lighten up"

I don't know why I feel that way.

Jonesy

I always lick my icecream. Even when I was little... I have really cold-sensitive teth. And I looove lemon ice cream (and other citrus flavours. And yoghourt and stracciatella and... uhm, yes. A few more...)

I also like lollypops. They're awesome!

I feel like I'd annoy you quite often if we knew each other in RL.

nosyupnorth · 07/04/2017 12:41

everyone knows that once you get past the age of 21 you should only be consuming kale and probiotic yoghurt - anything else is the first step down the slippery slope towards such scandalous things as Shock fun

"And he's sucking one."

"He's making little "Shlep" noises when he takes it out again."

*teeth...

Oh well, English... -.-

Willow2017 · 07/04/2017 13:09

I cant bite into ice lollies or ice cream it sets my teeth mental. I lick them but I dont make any noises, why would I? And will continue to do so till my dying day Smile We had ice lollies after tea last night shoot me now Grin

I also would think it barmy to have a soft boiled egg out of anything but an egg cup unless it was semi-soft for sarnies.

TBH I wouldnt give a young child a lolly (as in hard boiled sweet type) as they are a choking hazard but I couldnt care less once they are old enough who eats them. I love a drumstick myself Grin

Seriously people have too much time on their hands if they spend lovely days out watching how other people eat their ice cream.

NotReallyMeToday · 07/04/2017 13:15

YANBU to object to the slurping noise.

YABVVVVVU to say that adults can't have a lollipop. Surely being an adult means you get to have a lollipop whenever you choose, and don't have to eat your crusts either. I'm sure that's what I was promised when young.

mogonfoxnight · 07/04/2017 13:19

It all started with dc liking chupa chips and me having one they didn't want. Now almost every time i get in the car I want one. Just in the car though. I try to resist. I know other people find it disgusting. I can imagine the driver in the car in front watching me through their rear view mirror and getting the rage. But they are yummy.

ZuzuMyLittleGingersnap · 07/04/2017 15:29

Where does the Jury stand on an adult who's just challenged themself to eat a doughnut, without licking any sugar off their lips?

(Asking on behalf of friend...)
Blush

MitzyLeFrouf · 07/04/2017 15:31

No human has ever managed that feat.

ChippieFishieHorshie · 07/04/2017 15:34

Zuzu

I don't think I've ever had a donut with sugar..? I think I've had some with a hard vanilla frosting before...? No licking required.

ZuzuMyLittleGingersnap · 07/04/2017 15:36

Mitzy,

Wink

BTW, excellent use of the word "uncouth" in your post...it's due a revival.

ZuzuMyLittleGingersnap · 07/04/2017 15:42

Chippie,

You're missing out. Old-school fun for all the family. Truly.

HotelEuphoria · 07/04/2017 15:43

I am 51, last night I was sat in bed eating those long Refresher chew bars. I love (children's) sweets. If a lolly offends it's a good job he doesn't have a Drumstick lolly? all that slurping and chewing and hoping your crowns stay stuck.

ChippieFishieHorshie · 07/04/2017 15:46

Zuzu

I imagine it's like eating something like this...?

Ah, I wish I could get these in the UK ;)

Sounds good to me Wink

Emmageddon · 07/04/2017 15:50

When my brother's cancer had kicked in massively, he was given Pethidine lollipops because he couldn't tolerate anything orally and it helped him cope with the pain.

ZuzuMyLittleGingersnap · 07/04/2017 15:53

Chippie,

My friend says the first pic is exactly right.

You can't get them in the UK???
Eh? They're in every bakery and supermarket around these parts...(southern county)

Whathaveilost · 07/04/2017 15:54

I think its worse seeing people 'vapeing' no idea how to spell it but when i see adults using the e cigs it looks like they are sucking on one big dummy!!

SweetChickadee · 07/04/2017 15:56

Just reading about biting ice cream is making my teeth hurt

...and as for adults not being allowed an egg in a cup Shock you are obviously boiling your eggs too long if they are peelable

ChippieFishieHorshie · 07/04/2017 16:02

Zuzu

No, the 2nd picture. I've never seen them in the UK...

Well, I'm glad your "friend" lent us their expertise... ;)

paddyclampitt · 07/04/2017 16:04

Dear oh dear! Some people must have such a joyless existence!
