About curtains on hospital wards

Currently on post-natal ward, baby in SCBU, recovering from c-section.

I don't mind leaving most of my dignity at the door, i don't mind partners and visitors on the ward.

But is it too much to ask to be allowed the bloody curtain around my bed to be closed?

Matronly midwife seems to have nothing better to do than insisting my curtains are open. Angry

I'm even more sympathetic now with OP! Have so appreciated my privacy over the past night. Luckily the staff have been absolutely brilliant for me!

I can't believe some people on here are belittling some women's experiences like we should just put up and shut up.

After having a virgial exam I did not consent to during a seizure. I actually came round in the middle of it all. A failed epidural which meant I had forceps and was cut and felt everything because the midwife would not belive me that the epidural was not working (it had fallen out)
A hemorrhage that a junior doctor tried to deal with himself until my husband went out in the corridor and shouted for help. Not giving me a blood transfusion till three weeks later after I collapsed at home.
I didn't bond with my son for 18 months after this and was digonosed with PTS disorder and PND.

It seems to be the norm now to have a bad experience Hmm

I'm currently in the MK Hospital Maternity Ward, unfortunately have been here for 1 week...not having my privacy is doing my head in and...baby is not even out.
I was told to have my curtains openned but I just want my privacy...the hospital allows a stupid amount of viditors, why would I want a bunch of strangers to look at me while I'm in this situation? I'm sorry I don't. I prefer to go for a walk in the Hospital...and curtains can be open so they can see the empty bed.
After birth a women should be allowed to rest and relax...but no, this Hospital will allow a thausand visitors.
