To cause a massive scene in Sainsbury's car park

Earlier today I went to Sainsbury's with both my DD's (7&1) I was just about about to pull in to the last mother and baby space when someone cuts me up to park there, ok annoying as fuck but whatever.
I find another non baby space which is a very tight squeeze with my car (it's quite big) not to mention the whole faf off youngest DD and her car seat palava, so we've finally got out just about and set out to go in store, this is when I notice the guy who cuts me up is on his own, not only that I recognise he's the same guy who done this to me last week!
So I flipped out!
Blush I asked him where his kids were and does he think it's acceptable to be able bodied (I know this now I've recognised him as I actually went to school with him and he lives near me) and watch someone else struggle whilst he doesn't actually need the space.
So what I got back was him shouting to me 'you don't have to have kids to park here' and 'I'll park where the fuck I want'
By this time my oldest DD was very upset with our shouting and his swearing so I started to walk away, he proceeded to shout abuse behind me and it was all just very embarrassing really!
All in all I'm glad I called him out in front of lots of tutting and clapping people Blushbut I wish I hadn't upset my DD, I just hate disrespectful people! And I went in and reported him Grin

I understand why you were so annoyed. The guy is an arse.

arethereanyleftatall · 05/04/2017 21:37

Yanbu.
I never understand on these threads why mn applauds selfish dick heads who park in these spaces when they don't need the extra space.
Legal they might not be, but it's just basic manners innit?

momma1701 · 05/04/2017 21:37

Yep your right there would've been, wish I would've thought of that before, bastard

A ticket? A round of applause? How did the crowds hear you if you didn't raise your voice?

A small Sainsbury's with its own parking wardens? The small Sainsbury's near me doesn't even have anyone on the checkout, let alone a rapid response parking monitor.

All very odd and somewhat petty.

Lulabell1979 · 05/04/2017 21:37

Also intrigued how all these people say you don't need a huge car with 2 kids??

I have actually just downsized mine because it was a pain in the arse to park. New car still fairly sizeable but this is our family car, we use it for holidays etc and it's packed to the rafters. People can drive what size car they want!

In case you haven't noticed cars have got bigger whilst parking spaces have got smaller due to rising land values.

Why have a go at the OP for saying awkward to park?! Why be so petty?!

Scrowy · 05/04/2017 21:37

These P&C parking threads always go the same way but although most times it's manageable without the wider space life with children is much easier with the extra room.

I go about my day trying not to inconvenience others without good reason and people who use P&C spaces who don't need them are wilfully inconveniencing someone else who would actually benefit from it. But they are allowed to do so and that is their personal decision.

Saying that I got the internal rage the other day at a middle age couple who swiped the last P&C space from me in Sainsbury's and then proceeded to sit in it just to eat their sandwiches! They weren't even shopping Angry

sonyaya · 05/04/2017 21:37

I actually had to get my DD out the opposite side to where her seat is because I couldn't open my door on that side

Oh no. This is awful. Hope u r ok hun Flowers

So we have a very small car park for a supermarket - which is also a retail park - but is big enough to have parking wardens on site? And is full of people hanging around to watch idiots argue? Hmm

momma1701 · 05/04/2017 21:38

Yep just manners that's all it is, that's why it's annoyed me so much

YABU!!

Sweets101 · 05/04/2017 21:38

How on earth do you suppose people managed before they were thought up of as a good marketing ploy ?
Same way they managed before cars, washing machines, dishwashers, running water even! What's your point?

PigletWasPoohsFriend · 05/04/2017 21:38

So we have a very small car park for a supermarket - which is also a retail park - but is big enough to have parking wardens on site? And is full of people hanging around to watch idiots argue?

Seems like it

Sparklingbrook · 05/04/2017 21:39

I would have got the 7 year old to help me get the one year old out of the car.

CrochetBelle · 05/04/2017 21:40

Well now you know you can get your DDs out of a small space (even when there is a car overlapping the lines?) in your large car. In the small car park with the traffic wardens. In the retail park.
So you won't need to use the P&C spaces in the future will you?

momma1701 · 05/04/2017 21:40

I said people clapping, not an audience of 100 spectators, people can be as little as two and as many as infinite, can't it?

OP posts:
ghostyslovesheets · 05/04/2017 21:40

well done you screamed like a guttersnipe in front of your kids

yabu - if you can't cope without a massive space shop online

I drive a big car and have 3 kids and manage in normal spaces

Hercules12 · 05/04/2017 21:40

Well, none of your examples are marketing ploys.

LineysRun · 05/04/2017 21:41

Sainsburys do not have the legal powers to issue penalty fines for discourtesy.

momma1701 · 05/04/2017 21:41

Parking warden for the retail park not Sainsbury's

OP posts:
treaclesoda · 05/04/2017 21:42

No, I'm absolutely not applauding the selfish dick head who parked in the wrong space. He sounds like a pain in the arse.

It's just that a slanging match doesn't actually achieve anything and if you 'flip out' at someone (OP's own description) then you aren't really in a great position to talk about other people being disrespectful. That's all.

Parking twat does indeed sound like a knob, no argument from me on that one.

Hercules12 · 05/04/2017 21:42

Plus it isent difficult to park in a car space. Makes no difference to your say. Not comparable with a washing machine.

zeezeek · 05/04/2017 21:42

Woah. That was so classy.

GreenPeppers · 05/04/2017 21:42

Nope. I think the point where you are unreasonable is when you actually steppped down and walked away.
Because at that point, he did win with all his insults etc...

But yes actually I do think that these people need to be called out on their behaviour. It's as if because they are in a car, no one can make any comment. The car sort of protects them from the outside world.
Well NO.

Sparklingbrook · 05/04/2017 21:43

So how many spectators exactly were waving their pom poms? Two?

I think on balance causing a 'massive scene' in public is to be avoided wherever possible.
One of the audience might have been filming it for the local FB Spotted page or something. Grin

Hercules12 · 05/04/2017 21:43

Nor am I applauding the person who parked in the spot. I just don't agree it was okay for the op to lose her shit with him.
