To cause a massive scene in Sainsbury's car park

Earlier today I went to Sainsbury's with both my DD's (7&1) I was just about about to pull in to the last mother and baby space when someone cuts me up to park there, ok annoying as fuck but whatever.
I find another non baby space which is a very tight squeeze with my car (it's quite big) not to mention the whole faf off youngest DD and her car seat palava, so we've finally got out just about and set out to go in store, this is when I notice the guy who cuts me up is on his own, not only that I recognise he's the same guy who done this to me last week!
So I flipped out!
Blush I asked him where his kids were and does he think it's acceptable to be able bodied (I know this now I've recognised him as I actually went to school with him and he lives near me) and watch someone else struggle whilst he doesn't actually need the space.
So what I got back was him shouting to me 'you don't have to have kids to park here' and 'I'll park where the fuck I want'
By this time my oldest DD was very upset with our shouting and his swearing so I started to walk away, he proceeded to shout abuse behind me and it was all just very embarrassing really!
All in all I'm glad I called him out in front of lots of tutting and clapping people Blushbut I wish I hadn't upset my DD, I just hate disrespectful people! And I went in and reported him Grin

You said you need a larger car because of your DD... but then you said you need a larger car because of your job....

So.....?!

momma1701 · 05/04/2017 21:28

They have parking wardens, it's on a small retail park

PA comments aside thoughHmm, it doesn't usually really upset me too much when a child free driver nabs a space - although I'd be incandescent with rage if someone barged in in front of me (not that I'd ever aloe this to happenWink). I can reverse park my small car in one swift manoeuvre, wrangle 3 kids (including the baby - never needed to lug it about in a car seat) and be into the supermarket in minutes. Just don't really get the angst.

Sirzy · 05/04/2017 21:29

So in a packed car park he saw a space that was free and parked in it.

You then decided to give your children a wonderful example of how to behave!

FeliciaJollygoodfellow · 05/04/2017 21:29

It's annoying but they are a privilege not a right.

I had newborn twins this time 8 years ago and had to regularly get them out of the car one at a time and put them in the buggy one at a time. Without a P&C space that was very harrowing as I'd have to leave the buggy at the end of the car and risk another car driving into it.

So I didn't do that, I went elsewhere, parked over two spaces, parked on the end of the row, waited until I could take another adult with me.

YWBU and totally precious. Get the baby out and have your older daughter carry your bag or whatever. She's one so you can put her in a trolley, not sure what 'car seat palava' you're talking about.

Strokethefurrywall · 05/04/2017 21:30

curiouser and curiouser.

Were you expecting everyone to applaud your actions because we're all "mothers"?

Given the amount of threads I see on here about them, I think p&c spaces are the work of the devil, cleverly designed to bring out a sense of entitlement in all that covet them.

They're a courtesy, not a legality Hmm

IToldYouIWasFreaky · 05/04/2017 21:30

You "caused a massive scene" but you didn't swear or raise your voice? And you feel bad for upsetting your DD but wait! No, she wasn't actually upset, she was happy at all the people cheering her mum who shouted, but didn't, but lost her shit, but actually didn't....

Hercules12 · 05/04/2017 21:30

Do you really think losing your shit and causing a massive scene was worthwhile? I don't know what it is about these car spaces that makes people actually like this.

StillStayingClassySanDiego · 05/04/2017 21:30

Also all the clapping customers there was actual clapping?Confused

haveacupoftea · 05/04/2017 21:30

You should have just blocked him in Wink

Sparklingbrook · 05/04/2017 21:30

So Sainsburys staff had to stop what they were doing to contact the parking wardens to solve a really silly car park dispute over a P&C space? Confused Ans customers gave you a spontaneous round of applause for this?

And YY do you need the huge car for your DD or your job?

PurpleDaisies · 05/04/2017 21:31

Where were you parked if there were no spaces? Confused

Hercules12 · 05/04/2017 21:31

Are you hoping to be asked to appear on Jeremy kyle?

TinselTwins · 05/04/2017 21:31

The P&C space police like you OP are the worst thing about the P&C area

momma1701 · 05/04/2017 21:31

No he had a small car, two spaces he cut me up I ended up in the (barely big enough for a smart car) space where I actually had to get my DD out the opposite side to where her seat is because I couldn't open my door on that side

YANBU, well done! Hopefully he'll think twice next time (but he's clearly a dick so maybe not).

harderandharder2breathe · 05/04/2017 21:31

YABU for causing a scene . He shouldn't have parked there but you kicking off is more unreasonable than him parking there.

Get a smaller car. No one with two children needs a huge car.

Strokethefurrywall · 05/04/2017 21:33

This incident is so exciting there should be a movie made about it. Perhaps with Clare Danes...

kittybiscuits · 05/04/2017 21:33

Well done. Sorry about all the twat posts on your thread. It's a mumsnet staple, along with 'do adults celebrate birthdays' and 'why would your husband buy you a mother's day card - you're not his mother'. Well done for standing up to the selfish prick.

SlowSwimmingMom · 05/04/2017 21:33

He was a twat.
At the very least maybe he'll think twice about being so selfish in future.

I understand your anger as I also get sick and tired of selfish arsewipes like this - so fair play to you for calling him out on his twattedness.

Try and put it behind you now, it'll do you no good going over this in your head.

Hercules12 · 05/04/2017 21:33

How on earth do you suppose people managed before they were thought up of as a good marketing ploy ?

PigletWasPoohsFriend · 05/04/2017 21:33

So Sainsburys staff had to stop what they were doing to contact the parking wardens to solve a really silly car park dispute over a P&C space? confused Ans customers gave you a spontaneous round of applause for this?

Exactly.

Where exactly is this small car park with customers that hang around long enough to watch all this then clap and cheer?

Gazelda · 05/04/2017 21:35

I would have loved to have been one of those spectators! I would have asked for a selfie with you too.

WanderingTrolley1 · 05/04/2017 21:35
Hmm
Sparklingbrook · 05/04/2017 21:35

If the clapping customers had got in their cars and gone instead of staying and applauding the slanging match there would have been loads of spaces.
