AIBU to ask is there proof of Angels?

I saw the lady on This Morning who believes with out doubt in Angels and I couldn't get over how serene and calm she was. I was discussing it at school gates this afternoon and one mum said despite the proof of their existence she felt it was gullible to believe.

I'd like to do some more reading and want to ask is there any proof?

I believe in Angels, and fairies, and ghosts :)

SpreadYourHappiness · 04/04/2017 22:13

cherryberrymum What gives me comfort or hope? My family and friends, the inspirational stories of other human beings.

You know, actual real things that exist.

rosethyme · 04/04/2017 22:19

Yes i do believe in them. We all have our own guardian angel and they never leave our side.

Nellyphants · 04/04/2017 22:22

Lorna Byrne is either mentally ill or laughing up her sleeve at the gullible. If you read any of her books they're full of madey up stuff that can be disproved.

Shallishanti · 04/04/2017 22:33

someone gave dd2 a book about angels as a joke birthday present, it was hilarious

Madwomans · 04/04/2017 22:37

Who'd want angels to exist? They show up in your house, say 'Hail, thou art highly favoured' and ta-daaah! you're knocked up by the Holy Spirit, and your boyfriend is understandably unimpressed. The

SpreadYourHappiness · 04/04/2017 22:51

rosethyme Oh really? So are some angels just doing a shit job, then? Having a fag while people get abused or raped or murdered?

Or perhaps, you think they're just there to stalk us?

Darlink · 04/04/2017 22:55

Blatant misuse of aibu

I hope there isn't one by my side permanently. They'd be horrified at the things I do/say when I think there's no-one there. I suspect it would have given up years ago.

bignamechangeroonie · 05/04/2017 06:32

This thread is really making me want to see the movie Dogma again

I love that film

bignamechangeroonie · 05/04/2017 06:33

Mine had better not be with me

Here's mine

I thought the woman on This Morning came across as quite unhinged. The lights were on but there was clearly no-one home.

Phillip Schofield's face was a picture.

Raines100 · 05/04/2017 06:58

You can't believe in random crap because you like the idea of it. It would bring me hope and comfort to believe I'll win the lottery in 5 years, but that doesn't make it true.

PollytheDolly · 05/04/2017 07:42

Haha big the ultimate crosspost!

This reminds me of one morning last year. I'd fone to visit my Mum and there's a convent near the river near where she lives. I'd had a bit of a hard time with the something and some people IRL and had gone for a walk to think/calm down. Of course I spent most of the walk cursing (in my head), just then a Nun walked by me and gave me the Shock look.

I still swear she was able to quite literally read my mind Grin

elQuintoConyo · 05/04/2017 08:01

Of course they exist! And they wear Victoria's Secret undercrackers.

DingDongtheWitchIsDangDiddlyDe · 05/04/2017 08:25

What a daft question. There are a million different answers and they change daily.
Latching on to something invented to give you hope is nonsensical. How is there hope when you don't even know what you are believing in?

taraboomdeyay · 05/04/2017 08:36

The point is it isn't possible to either prove or disprove a belief that has no evidence in science. Therefore it is up to you what you do with your belief and your need for comfort or hope. Talking to and taking inspiration from others may be a good start.

malificent7 · 05/04/2017 08:42

There is no "proof" of ghosts but i lived with one once! I am not a believer but have an open mind.

I think angels can be used as a metaphor for protection.... to comfort people..

DorisMcSweeney · 05/04/2017 08:43

Of course angels exist. The bible says so. Just like Jesus's mum was a virgin, god created heaven and earth in six days and Noah built a big boat for all the animals. All of it true, not a joy of a lie.

PoundlandUK · 05/04/2017 08:44

One thing I know 100% to be true is that the cross posts at 06.33 is a bit of an enormous coincidence Confused

originalbiglymavis · 05/04/2017 08:47

Awaywiththepixies - I worked for the coffee for a few years and boy, the clergy can swear!

Our guardian angels were colluding. Grin
