AIBU to ask is there proof of Angels?

I saw the lady on This Morning who believes with out doubt in Angels and I couldn't get over how serene and calm she was. I was discussing it at school gates this afternoon and one mum said despite the proof of their existence she felt it was gullible to believe.

I'd like to do some more reading and want to ask is there any proof?

ffs

Secretsquirrel252 · 03/04/2017 17:11

David Boreanaz in early Buffy before I came to fully appreciate Spike, yes.

RockyBird · 03/04/2017 17:11

It was on but I wasn't paying much attention... I did have a giggle at the "unemployed angels". Rylan's face was a picture Grin

What a load of old guff.

polyhymnia · 03/04/2017 17:22

OP, can you say what 'proof' you are referring to?

anon050 · 03/04/2017 17:29

When you get psychic mediums & book authors like Doreen Virtue & Kyle Gray etc, saying they are communicating with angels. I believe they are really referring to spirit guides but they want to appeal to the Christians and those that need things kept fluffy. There very well could be angels but their energy would be far too high and they would work as a collective not per individual basis. I also don't believe angels have halos and wings.

SpreadYourHappiness · 03/04/2017 17:40

anon050 They aren't communicating with anything, they're talking bullshit.

Chloe84 · 03/04/2017 17:41

Belief in angels are mainly limited to the Abrahamic faiths, OP (Christianity, Islam and Judaism).

I don't think you can ask the question 'do you believe in Angels?' without asking the question 'do you believe in God?'

The two are inter-linked.

ladyballs · 03/04/2017 17:52

Cobblers, just like spirit guides.

hollyisalovelyname · 03/04/2017 18:44

I don't know.
I like to think someone/ something was watching over me the day I drove through a red light, crossing a very busy main inter city road with four children in the car, only one of whom was mine, with juggernaut drivers blaring their horns at my stupidity.

PickAChew · 03/04/2017 18:46

Yep. Here.

AIBU to ask is there proof of Angels?
DonaldStott · 03/04/2017 18:49

Angels are definitely real.

I know this, because an omnipresent man with a big white beard who impregnated a virgin told me.

Gabriel (who is one of THE MAIN ANGELS) is his mate apparently.

Witchend · 03/04/2017 18:54

If an angel appeared today they'd probably be wearing jeans and a t--shirt and carrying a gun.

I would believe in this one😚

Libitina · 03/04/2017 19:20

If an angel appeared today they'd probably be wearing jeans and a t--shirt and carrying a gun.

If they looked like Lucifer (Amazon Prime), I'd be happy.

uthredswife · 04/04/2017 10:10

That feckin dope Lorna whatever is an embarrassment to Irish people. She's a ravin lunatic as far as I'm concerned. She's on to a fine little earner now though with this angel stuff.

The whole thing makes me cringe.

And no, there is no such thing a angels.

specialsubject · 04/04/2017 10:19

Who said ' with proof, you don't need belief' ?

Show me the proof and I will accept. Until then, I don't believe.

Eatyourdinner · 04/04/2017 10:20

I don't believe in angels, but I think some people do/really want to. As a species we tend to like to think there's more to this life.

As a side note, there's a course at an adult education centre near me called Angel Therapy and it's fully booked!

WishIhadaGEG · 04/04/2017 10:20

OP, what do you think an Angel is? What does it represent for you?

kalinkafoxtrot45 · 04/04/2017 10:30

Sorry, no.

cherryberrymum · 04/04/2017 21:00

Wish I am not sure. I think of it in terms of guardian angel. But then I feel a little foolish or childish for believing that so am ashamed to say that I wouldn't admit to it in my group of friends.

No idea, if the thought brings comfort to people then who cares ??

Such as the video of the lady by her son's grave and a Robin landed on her hand when she asked for a sign.......it may have just been a huge fluke but the thought that it's an angel watching over her son is bringing her immense comfort. Whether it's what she thinks it seems doesn't really matter.

DingDongtheWitchIsDangDiddlyDe · 04/04/2017 21:07

How can you believe in something when you don't have a concept of what that thing is?

And of course she is serene and calm, firstly she's off her box, and secondly she is making a fucking fortune selling her books and "motivational speaking" to gullible gombeens who buy into her delusions.

donquixotedelamancha · 04/04/2017 21:16

"I don't think you can ask the question 'do you believe in Angels?' without asking the question 'do you believe in God?'"

Not anymore. Welcome to the 21st century: gullible loons replacing organised religion with their own made up crap. I cast no aspersions on people brought up in a particular culture who choose to have faith, but believing childish sounding stuff that has recently and very demonstrably been made up, seems a step too far to me.

"But then I feel a little foolish or childish for believing that"

Really, just a little foolish OP? In fairness, we all have our foibles- being self deluding is hardly unique, just please don't pay any psychics to tell you nice things about your angles OP.

BartholinsSister · 04/04/2017 21:20

Hell's Angels are real.

roywoodsbeard · 04/04/2017 21:25

And Angel Delight is real.
