Ugh at picture - all of them lined up at the dinner table like royalty while he's already approved the strike on Syria.

BREAKING: Russian Foreign Minister says Trump Administration's strikes on Syria remind him of the US invasion of Iraq

The only suggestions that they bombed a rebel armoury holding chemical weapons come from the Russians.
There's no discussion about where the gas came from.

The fact is: no war is humanitarian. Money, power, politics, yes. To save the little children, no.

I have to agree with this. Children have been dying in Syria for years. Why the sudden turnaround now? There's more to it.

SanFranBear · 07/04/2017 09:50

Just checking in on yet another morning I've woken up to news that scares & saddens me in equal measure.

Assad has to be stopped but I vehemently disagree with the US action. If this is where the chemical weapons were launched from, surely there was a risk more could be released by this (although obviously tipping off the Russians ensured this probably wouldn't happen).

Reconsider the US stance of Syrian refugees as a starter. Speak to Congress on the options. Take views from other allies and those with actual experience.

And I am a fervent Lib Dem supporter and am disgusted by Tim Farron's comments. I agree something needs to happen but there are more options than just joining in.

Not a good day today.

Lweji · 07/04/2017 09:50

This strike was definitely about international posturing and a distraction at home. I expect he expected the US population to rally around him. As many of his other actions since February, I'm afraid it won't go well.

I do wonder, though, who, in the Administration, was for it.

UnGoogleable · 07/04/2017 09:59

The news that the US warned Russia about the strikes conflicts with tweets shown on the BBC that the strikes came out of nowhere and with no warning. They didn't ring true - and now news coming out that no aircraft have been found at the airbase.

He warned Russia, Russia warned Syria. He's bombed a bit of tarmac and gets to look the big man.

It's a measure of how insane the Trump regime is that I wouldn't be surprised to find out that this latest episode was cooked up in collusion with Russia as a massive distraction. Including the gas attack.

I fear I am about to join the tinfoil hat brigade.
