To just be really fucking fucked off with being so broke all the time!

SharkiraSharkira · 01/04/2017 18:16

I will admit, this is really just a rant as there isn't much anyone can do about it.

But I am SO SICK of being SO fucking poor! It's SO humiliating having to admit to my boss and co workers that I am so broke I can't afford to pay my rent, that I am so broke I have to raid my penny jar for money for the fucking bus to work, just generally playing catch up ALL THE FUCKING TIME and never being able to actually get there.

Aibu to just be fucking fed up? To make matters worse I had to get an advance last month because otherwise I would have only had 2 weeks worth of money to live on for a month, so now I am going to get about £500 for this month. A whole month of working so hard, virtually full time hours and that is all I've got to show for it? Feel like just fucking giving up. So I know it's not going to get better any time soon.

Also doesn't help that a member of staff turned up today showing off their shiny new car that they just bought on a credit card. Makes me want to scream!

I know that isn't fair as my finances are not their problem but everyone was rushing out to look at the lovely new car and I just wanted them to fuck off because I'm stuck relying on free lifts and the bus because I can't even afford to fix my fucked bike. Just want to cry Sad

Is it the rent that is taking a chunk out of your pay? Plus bills on top?

ThisIsStartingToBoreMe · 01/04/2017 18:27

Can you tell us a bt more about your circumstances? Whats your job and how much does it pay

SharkiraSharkira · 01/04/2017 18:28

Yes, rent is quite a chunk plus bills, bike insurance, travel costs etc etc. Just feels never ending at the moment, I can't cut back any more than I have already.

Can you look for better paid employment?

SharkiraSharkira · 01/04/2017 18:30

Work in a cafe. Minimum wage, zero hrs contract but I do about 32hrs a week at the moment. Also a full time student currently so I can't increase my hours any more.

extra job? better paid job ? lodger?

palebluesky · 01/04/2017 18:30

Sometimes it is really difficult OP Flowers As you say, it feels relentless.

AndKnowItsSeven · 01/04/2017 18:31

If it makes you feel any better your college can't afford the car either if she put it on a cc.
Is moving not an option?

Fortheloveofdog · 01/04/2017 18:31

MSE boards can give you loads of advice. It truly sucks

SharkiraSharkira · 01/04/2017 18:33

I'm trying Rioja but there's not much around at the moment that isn't minimum wage/zero hrs contract. Plus the fact that at the moment I'm very limited in the area I can work due to shitty public transport and aforementioned broken bike. I'm supposed to be getting a small pay rise this month but that doesn't help me right now.

Can't take on an extra job or lodger.

Bettyspants · 01/04/2017 18:33

Do you have a partner / children?

SharkiraSharkira · 01/04/2017 18:34

No, moving not an option. Tbh anywhere I move to would cost me more! Our place is very cheap already and I share with DP so its shared.

OP posts:
SharkiraSharkira · 01/04/2017 18:35

I have a Dp, I have dcs but they don't live with me.

OP posts:
ThisIsStartingToBoreMe · 01/04/2017 18:36

Could you not ask your DP or parents or siblings to help you out financially.

EnormousTiger · 01/04/2017 18:36

If you're doing a marketable degree (you are a student) then this time will pass and you may in future be the one buying the expensive car. Just sit it out and keep working hard at your studies. You probably have end of year exams coming up soon.

SharkiraSharkira · 01/04/2017 18:37

This is true seven. But at least they have a fun new toy to play with in the mean time! I completely know that is isn't their fault but at the moment it just feels like salt in the wound. They didn't even need the new car, it was just one they really wanted.

OP posts:
SharkiraSharkira · 01/04/2017 18:41

Bore, unfortunate no one can lend me anything. Parents and siblings are not well off and dp is in a similar position to me at the moment.

I do Tiger. I've just had one and have a shit ton of work to do over Easter in preparation for exams and coursework after Easter and all I can think about it that I can even afford to GET to uni at the moment. I know you are right and hopefully it will be better in the future but right now I'm just really down Sad

OP posts:
Babyroobs · 01/04/2017 18:42

Does your Uni have a student hardship fund that you could try to access. Might be worth looking into.

SharkiraSharkira · 01/04/2017 18:42

I've tried baby, there isn't!

OP posts:
ellencherry · 01/04/2017 18:45

It's raptly shit

Are you entitled to any help? Any help with housing / council tax etc? It might be worth seeing a benefits advisor for advice.

ellencherry · 01/04/2017 18:47

Really not raptly

SharkiraSharkira · 01/04/2017 18:48

From what I've been told there's virtually nothing I can get benefits-wise due to being a student. I have tried many times. It really is shit!

OP posts:
ragz134 · 01/04/2017 18:53

I'm a student and I get housing benefit, though possibly the fact I have children contributes to that. Have you checked to see if you can get working tax credit?

Iflyaway · 01/04/2017 18:54

I am so broke I can't afford to pay my rent, that I am so broke I have to raid my penny jar for money for the fucking bus to work

Is moving not an option?

How exactly?

Sorry OP you are going through this. Rant and rave all you want.

HotelEuphoria · 01/04/2017 18:55

Do you get a student maintenance loan?
