There's loads of red herrings!

I think the seasonal idea which was quickly skirted over is the key.

It's Alex Hardy, David Tennant's character!!!

TinklyLittleLaugh · 30/03/2017 15:50

DH and I never ever watch British drama. But we watched the first couple of series of Broadchurch and were blown away. Sadly other things we have tried off the back of it (The Replacement, SSGB) have been a bit crap.

So why is Broadchurch so good? Is it the acting do you think, or the look of it? The plot isn't strikingly amazing, or the script. But it all works beautifully.

TedEriksen · 30/03/2017 16:21

The acting is just about the best on TV - I don't think there's anything on TV right now that rivals the chemistry between David Tennant and Olivia Colman (that was brought into sharp relief in Gracepoint, where Anna Gunn replaced Olivia Colman - not in the same class at all).

TinklyLittleLaugh · 30/03/2017 16:52

I actually really like that there's no "will they/won't they" shite. Just two people who have very gradually gone from annoying the hell out of each other to a sort of grudging affection.

TedEriksen · 30/03/2017 16:57

That is good, too - it's great that they can just depict them as close colleagues and basically good pals without patronising viewers with a romantic plot (I bet now they go and hook up in the next three episodes!)

Lakegeneva40 · 30/03/2017 22:08

Watched series 1 and two. Bit behind series three so will read later.

Sillygoof · 04/04/2017 13:33

Still no closer! I think the fact they're investigating Lenny at this stage of the series means he didn't do it, phew! So sad about Mark Latimer though 😢

dailystuck71 · 04/04/2017 14:29

Last night was very good. I'm still no closer but I do think there is a connection somehow with Tom.

Thoughts on tonight's episode? I don't know at all!

Batgirlspants · 10/04/2017 22:30

We have to wait until tomorrow as it's dds birthday and she's bloody well gone to party and made us promise not to watch it tonight but with her tomorrow.

wobblywonderwoman · 10/04/2017 22:31

I haven't a clue - the condoms and receipt / the waitress saying no.. But is he a bit to obvious?

limon · 10/04/2017 22:39

The waitress didn't say no - he shagged the waitress he says. Trish said no.

tinglyfing · 10/04/2017 22:43

Mark Lattimer

wobblywonderwoman · 10/04/2017 22:51

Yeah but the waitress said he was too rough and stopped before he came.. So he was frustrated and walking around the woods with condoms

dailystuck71 · 11/04/2017 07:59

But if he was going to rape surely he'd just have continued with the waitress and forced himself?

Lostpangolin · 11/04/2017 08:13

What about cabbie/ porn man? Was that a pic of Trish in the drawer his wife forced...as he pulled into the drive Shock?

WishITookLifeSeriously · 11/04/2017 09:03

I agree with tingly and have a suspicion it's Mark Lattimer. The rapes started roughly straight after Danny was killed and before he knew where Joe was. There is definitely something else going on with the others but I have a feeling it's Mark.

ProfYaffle · 11/04/2017 09:12

I think the Vicar's a major player, they've kept his character hanging around the periphery with nothing really going on other than a sense of bitterness and regret. They've surely done that for a reason. He's got a whole network of teenage boys (they come to tidy the church yard as punishment from school) they're distributing porn for him and the rapes are mixed up in the footage.

I don't think he actually did it though.

Karanka · 11/04/2017 09:14

In the first series, wasn't he also teaching computer classes, to Danny among others?

mehimthem · 11/04/2017 09:30

I might be a program or 2 behind you all in this Series 3 (am in NZ) so am carefully watching so I avoid spoilers (for me - dont want to ruin the build up) - but can someone remind me of Joe & Danny & how that panned out. I watched on Sunday night the meeting with Mark & Joe at the dockyards & he told Mark what had happened in Series 2 when Danny died - but I cannot remember how or what he did to Danny for him to die. And did he plead guilty in court? How is it that hes out &working now, was that some new identity thing? TIA

mehimthem · 11/04/2017 09:31

sorry - I mean Series 1 when Danny died (not S2) :)

OscartheWildebeest · 11/04/2017 10:06

My friends and I think that the dodgy taxi man did it, his step son filmed it. We don't think it was Jim because even though he looks guilty as hell Hardy and Miller looked sooo suprised when the DNA came through- and they wouldn't if they found Jim's. And also they said it was another man's DNA, ruling out Jim.
We also don't think it was Ed because all the victims have said they smelt alcohol and it was established early on that Ed Burnett doesn't drink!
We spend way too long discussing this :)

ProfYaffle · 11/04/2017 11:08

Oooh, well remembered @Karanka
