To still be fucked off about Mother's Day?

I still feel really hurt that they clearly think so little of me that oh couldn't be arsed to take dc to the shop to choose me some sweets or something. I wasn't asking for fancy or expensive gifts, just a small token to show they cared. I do so much and get fuck all back.

Mil got a nice gift so it's not even as if he forgot completely.

I do have horrendous pmt which is undoubtedly making it worse, but I'm so pissed off. And upset. And someone at work has asked if I had a nice day which just made it worse. I fibbed and said yes.

The OP did not have the same experience.

That particular comment wasn't aimed at the OP but the rest was. It was also aimed at the plethora of posters on this thread and others who have blown a small tradition totally out of proportion.

Mothering Sunday is just about children having an opportunity to acknowledge what their mothers have done for them. Unless they really wanted to make some sort of gesture and someone has refused to help them so they feel upset and guilty that they've let their mother down, I really cannot see what all the fuss is about.

Mine wasn't fantastic tbh. DH just treated it like any other day (DC are 4 and 1). I did get a (shop bought) card and a (unwrapped) present but at no point did he check what I might like to do with the day, and just left it to me to organise activities/food. I did lose it a bit after dinner and he apologised and did the DC's bath and bedtime. He's generally a great, very hands on dad and husband. He just doesn't do surprise/grand gestures - generally that doesn't bother me but just occasionally, like birthdays/Mother's Day, I wish he'd put a bit more effort into arranging something special.
