Instead they should refer to it as "certain, self-inflicted doom"

It will be interesting to see what alternative language they use.

Meanwhile, it looks like we may not have to worry so much aboit human mediated release of CO2.
Siberian lakes are releasing methane. (As is the US administration, in large amounts).

Methane has a bigger effect than CO2!

Hell yes natsku. China sure ain't no democracy that's for certain

Right, shall see if I can find any protests happening, or failing that, see if anyone will go with me to start our own.

In regards to climate change, there's going to be a multi-country meeting at the Arctic Forum soon discussing, amongst other things, the environmental issues going on there, in particular soot settling on the ice so it turns darker and absorbs heat from the sun rather than reflecting it which is speeding up the melting of ice yle.fi/uutiset/osasto/news/finnish_and_russian_presidents_to_meet_at_arctic_forum/9534188

The potential consequences of large eruptions of methane from the sea bed are truly terrifying.

Roussette · 30/03/2017 08:09

I hope the scientists are preserving their climate change data. Trump's EO was based according to Trump on the best data available. It was from 2003.

This is why..
With this new executive order, Trump has officially taken it on. His plan would return the calculation to its 2003 level—a time when regulators could get away with ignoring climate costs and the benefits to avoiding them because of how uncertain they were. It also disbands the nonpartisan group of federal scientists who make the estimate

On the FLOTUS 'easing into her role'. About bloody time isn't it?! She's costing the US an absolute fortune by not moving (and according to some press never moving) and on Twitter there is a lot of resentment about the US taxpayer having to pay when the WH is available. Add that to MarLago security costs, inconvenience to ordinary people (they have to close the airport and have done for the FIFTH weekend in a row. This costs huge money to do and is hurting the local community greatly. Every weekend all the flight schools, sightseeing flights, banner advertising flights are cancelled. 250 private flights cancelled every day too. The airport is financially on its knees apparently. Roads are closed, sales are down at the local Mall, local businesses and restaurants are closing because no one can get to them with road closures but does Trump care about local people? Nah. Pretty galling I imagine given he has the WH and Camp David which is designed for the purpose.

Lweji · 30/03/2017 08:10

And in case anyone has any doubts, the methane release is due to the increase in temperature caused by human mediated release of green house gases.
We may soon reach the point of no return. Sad

Roussette · 30/03/2017 08:12

You couldn't make this up....

White House press secretary Sean Spicer said Wednesday that the president shares the same view as his wife on women empowerment

As if!!!

illegitimateMortificadospawn · 30/03/2017 08:18

Your links and posts about methane are horrifying. I feel even sadder about everything that's going on now.

Lweji · 30/03/2017 09:33

Thankfully the rest of the world seems to have paid notice to the urgency and even US companies are investing in cleaner and renewable energy. It will have to be the public and voters who put pressure for regulations and investment.

Meanwhile...

not talking to bigots’: Angela Rye tears into CNN for giving Joe Walsh a platform

Arsehole Republican Joe.

"Former Rep. Joe Walsh doubled down on his belief the bar was lowered for President Barack Obama because he was black. After a Tuesday Twitter battle with Walsh, Democratic consultant Angela Rye called him a bigot again and again for the insulting claims.

Rye was forced to explain why Walsh’s comments undermined Obama, when people of color often are forced to work twice as hard to prove themselves. She said that Obama cleared every hurdle thrown at him just as reporter April Ryan and Rep. Maxine Waters (D-CA) are forced to do each day.

“I am tired of difference being disrespected and mistreated by this White House,” she continued. Walsh tried to cut in and say something to Rye but she held up her hand and told him, “I’m not talking to bigots, Joe.”

His wife doesn't have a view, she has a speech writer Hmm

Lweji · 30/03/2017 09:36

Just like Hillary was and is still being held to lower standards.

You know, farefaced liar, racist, sexist, man-groper, tax evader, several times bankrupt, name calling, angry, con woman Hillary.

peaceout · 30/03/2017 09:38

does Trump care about local people? Nah
What shocks me more is that he doesn't realise that this kind of thing is counterproductive, he needs the support of the people

Natsku let us know how your protest goes. I don't think of Finland as being a great protest culture, but could well be wrong.

Buzzfeed has a really good summary of 34 of the key things May needs to sort out in the next 2 years as part of leaving the EU. They do a good job of taking really complex political stuff and making it as simple and clear as possible.

I reckon that's a good start to the day. Trump's cohorts will now be scrambling to push it to the Supreme Court.

Oh look who un-blocked me to launch into a 17-tweet tirade defending him/herself by attacking @LouiseMensch and me! pic.twitter.com/x1SFPzbbwS

I think @RoguePOTUSStaff has shown their hand... and they don't look good at all.

BiglyBadgers · 30/03/2017 11:17

I can't actually find that list of tweets in the roguepotus feed. Maybe they deleted them. Reading it though all they are saying is that there is as much evidence for them being russian plants as there is for Mensch being a Russian plant, in that there is none at all. As I have said before, I don't think it is a particularly credible or even interesting account (they haven't said anything revelatory or controversial at all), but I have not seen a single bit of actual evidence that they are in league with the Russians. Nor have I seen a single bit of actual disinformation they have put out. In this case Mensch has been guilty of just tweeting rants about them over and over again with nothing to back her assertions up, so I'm not overly surprised they have tweeted the same back. Not very mature, but they don't exactly come across as the most grounded of people. Neither does Mench for that matter. I think they are all as childish as each other sometimes.

I am totally happy to change my mind and accept the roguepotus as a Russian plant as soon as someone has some actual credible evidence or they do something that is genuinely dodgy (rather than just a bit stupid). Until then it is just chasing insignificant shadows of our own tails and not helping anything at all.

Bigly I don't think they are Russians. I do think they are WH staff, but not "rogue" if that makes sense.

MrsT2007 · 30/03/2017 11:35

Yes but John Schindler does agree that it's a dodgy account, and he's more in a position to know. Apparently some of the things the rogue account says about the WH are patently wrong, which would raise question marks.

Either way it's a distraction that's unnecessary & takes focus away from the issues at hand.
