To not 'get' Boden

ClarkWGriswold · 25/03/2017 18:35

Just that really. I've never bought anything from there admittedly but it all looks hideously over priced and 'samey'. I just don't get the MN love for it. Is it a status thing?

i like boden, white company & molton brown Smile

ohhereweareagain · 25/03/2017 23:34

i also like Reigate Grin

DalaHorse · 25/03/2017 23:37

So many Boden dresses seem to be made of stretch jersey which isn't my personal favourite fabric, although I appreciate it is many people's.

Quodlibet · 25/03/2017 23:43

I don't think the quality of Boden or Hush stuff is up to much, personally.

Bettyspants · 26/03/2017 03:25

Galean yes that's the look I try to project in a professional setting, out of it I'm in very worn stuff that doesn't usually get an audience although I've found a few Boden bargains I keep for off duty (lasted me years) I'll love the kids stuff until they groyout of it completely I'm handing down Boden clothes my 19 year old had to DD age 7 now.

OlennasWimple · 26/03/2017 04:30

MrsDV - I think I've actually had more email contact from Jonnie B than men I have shagged in the past...

Never buy at full price, beware the "fun prints", look at what is going on eBay

Iris65 · 26/03/2017 04:39

I'm a fan of Boden and White Stuff. Its OK if others don't.

haveacupoftea · 26/03/2017 07:33

The Boden wearers of today are the David Nieper customers of the future Grin

coffeetasteslikeshit · 26/03/2017 07:39

Where else is there for everyday smart casual?

Can't believe no one's mentioned Seasalt yet!

ElspethFlashman · 26/03/2017 08:04

I know Ovaries, are people washing their Primark clothes in bleach?!

Mine last several years just fine. And I won't hear a word against the shoes which can go on forever.

InvisibleKittenAttack · 26/03/2017 08:40

Coffee - Seasalt clothes are all big! They don't do petite and their regular is longer in the sleeve and leg than many other high street shops. Not a problem for normal sized humans, but for us tiny types, it's ruled out!

The wide range of petite clothes that aren't assuming that short = has the figure of a teenager is one of the big selling points of Boden for me. Mind you, many other stores are now doing petite ranges online, so while I'll probably always love my Boden jeans, I'm not buying much else there at the moment.

Trainspotting1984 · 26/03/2017 08:43

I don't think there is anything to get really- it's just a shop. Outside of mumsnet it's known as the shop you turn to when your sex appeal dies 😂

VenusOfWillendorf · 26/03/2017 08:45

Anyone else had a browse at the Boden website as a result of this thread?

Yeah, I've just spent 75pounds on a top, jumper and cardy from the clearance 😳

Giraffeski · 26/03/2017 08:48

I just bloody spent £500 on Boden last night as a direct result of this thread!

Effendi · 26/03/2017 08:56

I'd never heard of Boden, Joules, Fat Face, White Company till I joined MN.
Had a look at Boden, its a bit mumsy samey and way to expensive for me.

Glossolalia · 26/03/2017 09:18

God, I think I love Jonnie even more if that's the case. I'm a married mum of one. I'm exhausted. The last thing I want to have is sex appeal! I don't need to add telling men to piss off to my to do list.

WinterWander · 26/03/2017 09:24

Would someone please post a picture of a "PTA mum" - I help out at PTA events and haven't noticed any dress code. Maybe ours is too downmarket.

I like Boden, their cashmere is very good quality. It doesn't bother me if people sneer and it makes them feel trendier than others.

JungleInTheRumble · 26/03/2017 09:40

I loooove boden. Such happy memories of looking through the boden kids catalogue and choosing some clothes I'd like.

I've never bought them as an adult though.

No, definitely some of the comments are about feeling trendier. Calling the clothes 'frumpy', 'mumsy' etc.
Luckily, it doesn't bother me

I remember about 10 years ago on MN when mumsy boots were black ankle boots with a square heel. According to a pp they're now flat calf boots, unless a pta look is different to a mumsy look? Who knows Confused

FindoGask · 26/03/2017 10:10

I don't think I've ever bought anything adult from them but I do love their colourful children's clothes - though I usually buy them second hand or vastly reduced. And I'm really not a stereotypical Boden person.
