Is pasta and rocky road squares a bit of a rubbish meal to feedback to a friend for lunch

I'm unemployed at the moment so don't have much money.

My friend pops round every Saturday and she has some lunch at mine. All I do is something cheap and simple.

Today I'm making homemade enchiladas and a rocky road tray bake for dessert.

Is this okay do you think?

I don't do anything exciting as it's an informal visit where we just relax and chat over a coffee. I don't invite her for lunch specifically, it's just a case of her calling round to say hi.

She's never complained but I just feel a bit embarrassed as before I lost my job last year I would have done something a bit better.

Also agree with PP if I were her I'd be offering to bring lunch (at least every other week) even if you weren't unemployed.

She has never contributed anything. When I got to hers I either save so I pay half of the takeaway or bring a sandwich along.

I know it's 'unfair' in a sense but I value her as a friend and it's not something worth arguing over.

When I was employed she was getting amazing stuff! No wonder she comes!

I agree a sandwich or soup more than acceptable it's what I would eat for lunch. It's a drop in not a dinner invite. Next time I went to hers I would ask her to feed me (even if she didn't have much money) then you can return the same simple lunch with no pressure, because presably you don't have much spare cash either. Or offer drink say I had a late lunch!
